so just to summarize : Type 1 : foreign antigen attaches to antibody on mast cell (foreign antigen attack) Type 2 : own antibody attacks own cell's antigens (antibody attack) Type 3 : foreign antigen attaches to antibody in blood making Ag-Ab complex that accumulate in tissues with complement activation (Ag-Ab complex attack) Type 4 : foreign antigen presented by MHC-1 activate CTL (killing cells presenting the Ag) & by MHC-2 (on DC) activate T helper cells (calling macrophages to eat up the remnants) . (CTLs & macrophage attack) hope this helps :D & btw thanks very much for the video , it's extremely helpful & straight forward

hi, hi...... very very impressed or should I say extremely impressed. I needed further information as I am a Trichologist/Cosmetologist. (hair loss practitioner) I study hair loss and scalp issues related to hair loss. earlier in my certification I came across cell mediated immunity T-cells leukocytes fighter T cells Etc. That was in the first few chapters of my certification. Recently, this came across my desk again and I needed further study. My case of study was cell degranulation-mast cell degranulation. The stress that causes inflammation of the hair follicle which lead to hair loss. Your information was priceless! Your information was invaluable as it relates to type 1 through Type 4 sensitivities. My course of study includes sensitivities of the body's hormones mainly,NGF substance p and corticoids that lead to hair loss

Great video. Just to make things clear on HSII, on a second pregnancy of a rh factor sensitive woman , Rh factor-specific IgG influx starts at around the 32nd week (remember igG crosses the placental barrier), which will cause an hemolytic reaction on the fetus which will cause a serious anemia, which, in order to produce more blood, will return the liver to its fetal hematopoietic role, thus stopping the albumine production which will cause a huge case of edema, which in extreme cases turns into a condition known as hydrops fetalis, lethal in most cases. (Sorry for any grammar mistakes, not a native)

Good Q: Eczema is an encompassing term. I have found a very neat and concise explanation from Bruinhd on SDN: "eczema" is usually referring to Dyshidrotic Eczema, a vesicular rash associated with atopy, classified under Type I hypersensitivity. It can be precipitated by episodes of Type IV hypersensitivity such as contact with nickel or other metals (which is where your 48 hr thing comes in to play).So I would classify it as Type I hypersensitivity, with associations to Type IV.

I'm curious, what is your background? I enjoyed the humor (i.e. the spelling jokes) & simple explanations - kept things interesting & very helpful for my review. I would draw out the immune complexes for type III - show how the antibodies bind to the free antigens because the antibodies, due to their structure, can bind to more than one antigen. Type IV was explained more than I needed it to I think, but again, it was still helpful, especially the examples :) Thanks for a great video!

An important addition to 01:53 (Activation of mastcells through antigenbinding on IgE). The binding of antigen on the membranebound IgE is *not* the signal for degranulation. Rather, the cross-linking of the IgE antibodies because multiple IgE bind to the same antigen causes degranulation. This is an important distinction, because it explains why monovalent antigens cannot cause degranulation, or why anti-Fcε receptor antibodies cause degranulation.

I have af question about the PPD. If the type 4 reaction is not mediated by antibodies, how is it that one uses them for PPD? Does the already excisting antibodies act like opsonins for the injected antigens so the APCs can engulf themeasier, or how does it work? Thanks for a great video :)

Are type II Hypersensitivity reactions the same as an autoimmune disease ? Or is it more like Cytotoxic Hypersensitivity ?
@bswgd810 жыл бұрын
Type 2, 3, & 4 hypersensitivities can all be autoimmine if the cell or antigen and they are attacking is your own. Graves disease, rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes are all autoimmune and represent 2, 3, & 4 respectively. Cytotoxic hypersensitivity is just another name for type 2 hypersensitivity.
