Wow, this was really interesting. It is not just the results that are fascinating, but the equipment too.

The first 15 seconds, does the sky really look like that at the site? Amazing!

@ernobius - the telescopes are not in close distance to the recent earthquakes and were therefore not affected.

Very interesting. I wonder how often do they have to do this?

Thanks for the video! Very interesting and shows how humanity is still discovering new things although everything seems to already have been discovered!

Giant Mirror looked more dusty after it was re-coated than before it was cleaned.

How often does this have to be done? The only "time" I got was "regularly". How long is the downtime?

I wonder how often the re-coating fails and has to be re-done.

The site is in South America and the southern hemisphere has a better view of the galactic center of the Milky Way. Which makes for an awesome night sky, especially where there is no light pollution.

Imagine how they're going to have to figure out how to do this on the dark side of the moon once they get set up there...

@thebutler89 Actually, when Dawkins said that, he was quoting somebody else in order to make the point that he wasn't as bad as some others have been. watch?v=uYBFqse7tiU
