Another fabulous summary of information! I value your perspective so much. Thank you!!! I did not know that I should wait to go outside after applying vitamin c, but since I heard you talk about the importance of letting products sink in I’ve been breaking up my morning and evening routines with other tasks. I am especially interested in photo sensitivity (maybe because I seem to have very photo sensitive skin-haha), so I love any help in putting the puzzle of active ingredients together.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I also have slightly photo sensitive skin so I try to be very careful and consistent with my sun block, especially when using active ingredients as they tend to make your skin even more photo sensitive! I am still thinking about how best to put together a video on combining and using active ingredients, as it seems there is a lot of different information out there and it could be useful to have a summary video of it all!

You seem to enjoy, use and recommend a fair number of Votary products. I would appreciate a dedicated video on this brand, if there is enough interest. I am intrigued, but on the fence, with regards to purchasing and giving them a try. Thanks!

@@KatarinaLuise That would be great thanks! Also, I know you struggle to find Ila spa products in Sweden. Have you tried ordering directly from their website? I know look fantastic carry the brand now and they ship internationally. Hope that helps 🙂

The most confusing of all vitamins is vitamin A. Retinol. Retinal. Retinoid. Retin-A. Adapalene. Derivatives. Tretinoin. Bakuchol or whatever. Etc etc. I'm like whaaaaat? So confusing. I use Paula's Choice 1% Retinol Treatment. I am not religious with it tho I should be. Could you do an impossibly in-depth video on vitamin A? I know a lot about skincare compared to the average person but when it comes to vitamin A, I am at a loss....

Thanks for the suggestion! I will have a think about this! When it comes to comparing between similar products, you can do all of the research in the world but I think at the end of the day trial and error is a great way to find the best product as everyones skin is a bit different; however, if you are trying to correct more severe damage or acne, I think going to a dermatologist for a retinoid is probably the best bet. Not only can they customise a skincare routine for you, but you will also have the prescription retinoids available to you then!

What is your opinion of the Verso Retinol 8 products? I've been trying Cerave's Vitamin C serum lately because I have a lot of damage to my skin from surviving severe covid-19, and it does really seem to work. I noticed a faint tingle, which I thought was from the vitamin C, but I just found out the product contains denatured alcohol, so that is probably the reason and now I need to find a different option for a vitamin C serum.
@KatarinaLuise
@KatarinaLuise 3 жыл бұрын
Ah, so disappointing about the serum. My skin doesn't tolerate alcohol well either so I also need to avoid it. Too bad about your increased sensitivity, I was unfortunately sick last year as well and I don't think that my skin has yet fully recovered either. Hopefully soon for both of us :) I don't really use Retinoids in my routine very often, but when I am older and want to introduce them Verso is a brand I definitely want to try. I have tried some of their other products and really like them! I do currently use their lip serum which has Retinol 8 in it. I think it's a stable and effective retinoid, but as with everything it's best to test products to find the best one for your own skin!

@@KatarinaLuise Any additional videos talking about active ingredients and how they work, as well as ingredients to avoid, would be great. I'd also love comparisons of luxury brands versus some of the more affordable brands available in the USA, including the ingredients and fillers. For example, Cerave and Eucerin are both readily available here and have solid reputations and some nice products, but as we just saw, they're not all perfect. Both have barrier creams that seem to work for me as a top layer, but not in quite the same way, and as far as I can tell part of it is that they use different occulents. I'm still trying to figure it out, especially because there seems to be *something*, I'm not sure what, in unscented Curel body lotion that my skin craves. I noticed that Curel has started coming out with additional products like an oil cleanser. Paula's Choice is more expensive but also readily available in the USA and has a vitamin C "boost" serum that as far as I can tell doesn't have bad ingredients and it does come in a pump bottle -- some of the other vitamin C serums that seem highly recommended are in stopper bottles, which doesn't seem like a good idea. And I mentioned Pura d'Or in a comment on another video -- they seem to have a solid line of oils as far as I can tell, but I'm not at all expert (if I were I wouldn't have made the mistake of buying a serum with denatured alcohol in it).

Thank you for the suggestions! I haven't tried Cerave or Eucerin yet, but I did have a similar experience trying a product for a previous blind product comparison video where I found that even though the ingredients list seemed fine and nothing I had any problems with before, I had a bad reaction to it, ahh the mysteries of skin sensitivities! Paula's choice is a very great brand. They have good ingredients lists and a lot of transparency and information on their products!
@LaurieEMiller
@LaurieEMiller 3 жыл бұрын
@@KatarinaLuise It is really helpful that your videos make it clear that a similar ingredients list just doesn't have enough information to guarantee a similar experience. Also, thank you for the advice not to listen to the insistence that everyone must exfoliate everything. I don't think exfoliating my face is a good idea, and it just plain seems unnecessary. I tend to go with moisturizing the daylights out of it so that anything unneeded will just fall off, and that seems to work well. I started using a Neutrogena retinol once a week recently and that does seem to trigger some tendency to want to shed a tiny bit of surface, and layers of humectants seems to be the way to deal with that as well. I really liked how you explained that retinoids and exfoliation are fundamentally similar in some ways and could be redundant for sensitive skin -- that seems to be the case for me except on my arms. And even on my arms I think the problem is really that I haven't found the right humectant combination yet.
