Dr. James Tour was born in the Bronx, New York and raised in a secular Jewish home. During his undergrad studies at Syracuse University he would encounter Jesus for the first time while praying in his dorm room.
In this episode Dr. Tour shares how this encounter and relationship would shape his career as an organic chemist. Our team followed Dr. Tour around for a day at Rice University where he works as a Professor of Chemistry, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, and Professor of Computer Science.
Professor Tour has over 750 research publications, over 130 granted patents and over 100 pending patents. He has an h-index = 165 with total citations over 125,000. In 2021, he won the Oesper Award from the American Chemical Society which is awarded to “outstanding chemists for lifetime significant accomplishments in the field of chemistry with long-lasting impact on the chemical sciences.
