i love how this movie ends the way the original starts making this a prequel. the only downside was the monster didn't seem like the og monster which sucked and knowing now how they wanted to use practical effects, which i learnt by watching this recap, it probably would've made this movie alot better.

What's much more interesting is how they reverse-engineered the story to incorporate all the details the Americans found on the Norwegian station in the first film.

People who had more power than sense really sabotaged this movie. The team making the movie had so much more they wanted to do, and it could have been fit into only a couple additional scenes to really help things along, including showing us the original pilot species of the craft, how the original organism escaped and how it looked. The ship was basically a xenobiological studies ship, taking samples of organisms from planets for study. Also, as a prequel, we see that the adaptive super-cell organism is a lot more brazen in it's attacks compared to the original/second part to the story. I think this is a good touch, since it shows us that the creature learned from it's mistakes. It was too open, and it paid the price by losing so many parts of itself and failing until all that was left was the dog-thing.
