As a young lad, one of the first jobs I had my boss taught me that one of the greatest learning tools was to say I don't know, and it's stuck with me my whole life, and I brought that attitude with me towards God and it has opened up the scriptures like never before. God bless and love this ministry 🙏

It's the toddler-argument: "Blaming other what you do yourself!" Science clearly leaves an open-mind for things we still need to CONSIDER, things we can ASSUME are true or not, things we can ACCEPT thanks to evidence, AND things we simply don't know yet! Science is built on “I don’t know” but carries on to ‘let’s find evidence’ and does it without an end goal in mind. As such science is not the enemy of faith - the opposite, if a faith is right the breadcrumbs will lead scientists to proving god.

I think the point is that Christians belief in a Creator is not incongruent with science. As a Christian I believe in both being true. The evidence also seems to point to God's existence: the universe coming from nothing / the beauty of the world / the programming nature of DNA (Who is the Programmer?) A healthy stance for a scientist is to be open to all possibilities that best explain the origin of life & the universe. Hope that helps. Also if I don't know something - I will also say just that. I don't advocate a blind faith - rather a mind that is open to the evidence. To me, the Bible gives the best explanation to why there is a universe or life to begin with. It is also the most historically attested document in the world.

Faith, the nature of belief is the highest form of dialogue, in terms of purpose , of existence. Its a realm beyond proof, beyond certainty , beyond deductive reasoning. Faith is through realization . One tries to engage, as one cannot feel taste see hear nor think in one breath, it is exploration of self, of Being . Religion is the story, that some have gained transcendence, call it communication with the divine, found meaning to the human condition . This is what our civilisations are build upon as foundation. Now our new gods are abstraction gods, call it freedom etc. But it seems faith is as far as self goes, but Bible - some has gone further . To question whether this is indeed the words from Father of Days is a matter of faith. When someone says; proof the existence of God, they are nonsensical...

With all the biological information to replicate every organism that has ever existed? @@Logicallyspeaking-ct1umnope, show me a single religion that teaches they have all of the answers to any scientific topic in their Holy Books. Name one, chapter and verse. You can't because it doesn't exist. Mean while you use a debunked model of evolution invented by a geologist with a disproven agenda and a r@©ist bias, denying the more accurate to the modern evidence model suggested by arguably the greatest Christian theologian in history and medieval scientist. All while also suggesting religion contributes nothing, but Pythagoreans were a cult and all of West philosophy and science was built on their work including when they were wrong like about irrational numbers existing, and medieval scientists were actually the more productive and correct philosophers as the only Renaissance men who contributed to modern science where all Christian Pythagoreans, but wait their is more, all of quantum physics was founded on the work explicitly Christian scientists with the only exception being the religious Deist Einstein. But yes, continue us down a scientific dark age because you are unwilling to accept a reality so obviously the most uneducated and primitive humans figure it out as children and the most intelligent minds in history including all of scientific fathers, every unit of measure named after a scientist, and elements named after scientists are all named after explicitly Christian philosophers except Einstein. Even Socrates was executed for teaching monotheism under the charge of corrupting the youth while he describes the God of Abraham to a T in the book Plato's republic which you can have read to you here on KZbin for free. The only differences between Socrates idea of God and the Biblical idea are details about what happens to the human soul after passing. Every nation and tongue, every tribe and continent knows the God every scientist to ever do anything between 300 BC and end of WW2 and no one questions the idea that he was wise or morally good and most religions try to claim him for themselves including the Hindus who believe in many gods. What leg do you have to stand on? The age of rocks we judge by their depth and not the radiometric dating which proves they have too much carbon 14 to be as old as you say they are? What about the same carbon 14 in dinosaur bones with intact soft tissues and diamonds from the deeps parts of the earth with carbon 14 in them or the fact earth has a magnet pole still and isn't small enough to be a million years old and still have one. Or the fact the moon is still in our orbit but flying away at an inch a year. Oh they claim to have all the answers but you want me to believe life is millions of years old on a planet billions of years old when the moon can't be that old and life needing the moon to be possible or the fact the earths own atoms tell us that is BS. I would honestly sooner believe in a spaghetti monster than bunch of incoherent nonsense that is falling apart more and more with every passing day. The difference between you and me, I am a professional educator with physics degree and a better argument for any God of any kind using only thermodynamics and quantum mechanics than you will ever have against the existence of even Cthulhu much less Christ a dude who absolutely walked the earth.

Contextually, he's referring to the relatively small group of "major players" within the origin of life community that make claims about our progress in that field that misleads people into thinking we know more than we do regarding the topic. We know a lot, but we'd be lucky to be able to string together more than a handful of steps just to get a portion of what is needed for a cell to form from chemistry that isn't being guided by the processes of an already fully assembled cell. They do some chemistry, manage to make a measly amount of the compound they were going for, then act like since they got the tiniest bit of it that they solved that problem and can move on, when they haven't show that such a small amount that's made along with a large amount of other stuff would even be able to be used for the next step as all the other stuff that's made will make it difficult for the small amounts of what we were looking for to group together to be used in the next step before being broken down or combined with all the other stuff surrounding it. He doesn't mean that they don't ever say, "I don't know," hrs saying they often don't say it in specific instances where they should. What He's using is rhetoric to make a point. The context is everything else he has said on the topic of origin of life research. What he's doing is similar to when someone says something like, "you always..." That doesn't actually mean always, it means often or at inappropriate times. It's an exaggeration, also known as hyperbole, which is part of rhetoric.

The science papers themselves are misleading, making exaggerated claims throughout, yet the dismal results tell. Tour & Lennox are not being hypocritical, they are simply setting the record straight, you are better off believing in Mickey Mouse than thinking a cell could ever just form in Nature by some lucky chemical affiliations and reactions over billions of years. There’s two obvious reasons why they don’t admit they don’t know. First, it’s because they are trying to disprove a creator, and acknowledging that it’s impossible to do so would be giving unwanted credit to the theory of intelligent design. Second, the best way to get funding is to present as if you’re on the brink of putting all the pieces together.

Except he's right. We don't know where the information in cells came from. There are some theories, but we can't narrow them down or make much progress. We can form several of the basic compounds that theoretically could form cells, but only in such small proportional quantities that, chemically speaking, they're useless because the chemicals would react with all the other compounds formed with them before they could come together to form a cell. Then there's the problem of how the different compounds could even come together since they require different chemicals and conditions to form. Then there's the problem of how those compounds could have combined to form the larger complex structures they make up. And the problems just continue. Have we figured out many things that may have to do with the origins of life? Yes, sure. However that many things that we've figured out is still proportionally small compared to what we have left to figure out. Despite the much larger amount of stuff we don't know, scientists in the origin of life field make out as though we've got it all figured out rather than saying that there's still much we don't know. And that's the problem Dr Tour is pointing out.

The 3 biggest differences between science and religion 1. Science: Here are the known facts, what conclusions can we draw from them? Religion: Here is the conclusions. What facts can we find that might support it? What facts must be suppressed so that our conclusion will be believed. 2. Science: When science is proven wrong, the information is embraced, and science grows from that. Religion: When religion is proven wrong, the information is suppressed, and people are imprisoned or murdered. 3. Science: We have questions we may never know the answers to. Religion: We have answers that we won’t allow to be questioned.

From Zac M, Dr. James Tour's Associate: Those are not Dr. Tour's positions. For example, he has repeatedly said that he thinks that scientists will one day understand abiogenesis, though we are farther away from that day than what gets presented to the general public. You can check out his interview with Abdu Murray on this God of the Gaps argument: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYLFdIGJaZZ-grsfeature=shared. Dr. Tour does not think having a natural explanation precludes God from using natural events to guide His creation. We have good philosophical reasons to believe in a Creator of the universe and good historical reasons to believe in Jesus's resurrection, which is central to our faith. If you don't believe in the resurrection and want to discuss its historical evidence, you can email tour@drjamestour.org. Thank you

Does Dr. James Tour suffer from TARDACITY? The latter is a neologism from "RETARD". He asks: "Why don't scientists come out and just say 'I don't know'?" But scientist do that all the time. Exactly how does he know that scientists do not admit their lack of knowledge? If any scientist is confronted with hitherto unanswerable questions, they READILY admit that they do not know. This Dr. James Tour is clearly lying and dissing scientists. He goes on to admit that "Clearly we don't know many things when it comes to the origin of life, when it comes to the origin of information, when it comes to the origin of chemical bonds would come together ..." So, the scientists do not know this, and in particular Dr. James Tour does not know this. That is it: NO ONE YET HAS THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS. The latter statement is a conclusion that Dr. James Tour himself admits and yet proclaims his belief in God. In other words, he contradicts himself and his pea brain does not notice this naked contradiction!
