I think the point is that Christians belief in a Creator is not incongruent with science. As a Christian I believe in both being true. The evidence also seems to point to God's existence: the universe coming from nothing / the beauty of the world / the programming nature of DNA (Who is the Programmer?) A healthy stance for a scientist is to be open to all possibilities that best explain the origin of life & the universe. Hope that helps. Also if I don't know something - I will also say just that. I don't advocate a blind faith - rather a mind that is open to the evidence. To me, the Bible gives the best explanation to why there is a universe or life to begin with. Faith, the nature of belief is the highest form of dialogue, in terms of purpose , of existence. Its a realm beyond proof, beyond certainty , beyond deductive reasoning. Faith is through realization . One tries to engage, as one cannot feel taste see hear nor think in one breath, it is exploration of self, of Being . Religion is the story, that some have gained transcendence, call it communication with the divine, found meaning to the human condition . This is what our civilisations are build upon as foundation. Now our new gods are abstraction gods, call it freedom etc. But it seems faith is as far as self goes, but Bible - some has gone further . To question whether this is indeed the words from Father of Days is a matter of faith. When someone says; proof the existence of God, they are nonsensical...

Yeh but they know there is no God? DNA is just an accident, 1 gram having the equivalent information storage capacity of 88 million grams of 1 terabyte hard disk drives, a 4 letter code compared to the zero's and one's using 100 million times less energy than the computers scientists are using to examine DNA with? With all the biological information to replicate every organism that has ever existed? Even knowing which elements DNA is made of and can't make them form a single protein or gene in a reasonable simulation of a prebiotic earth?
Contextually, he's referring to the relatively small group of "major players" within the origin of life community that make claims about our progress in that field that misleads people into thinking we know more than we do regarding the topic. We know a lot, but we'd be lucky to be able to string together more than a handful of steps just to get a portion of what is needed for a cell to form from chemistry that isn't being guided by the processes of an already fully assembled cell. They do some chemistry, manage to make a measly amount of the compound they were going for, then act like since they got the tiniest bit of it that they solved that problem and can move on, when they haven't show that such a small amount that's made along with a large amount of other stuff would even be able to be used for the next step as all the other stuff that's made will make it difficult for the small amounts of what we were looking for to group together to be used in the next step before being broken down or combined with all the other stuff surrounding it. He doesn't mean that they don't ever say, "I don't know," hrs saying they often don't say it in specific instances where they should. What He's using is rhetoric to make a point. The context is everything else he has said on the topic of origin of life research. What he's doing is similar to when someone says something like, "you always..." That doesn't actually mean always, it means often or at inappropriate times. It's an exaggeration, also known as hyperbole, which is part of rhetoric.

But my belief is just like in this video clip . We’re not meant to know . And we don’t know . Anybody who says they think they know has another thing coming . And the one thing I DO know ??? Except he's right. We don't know where the information in cells came from. There are some theories, but we can't narrow them down or make much progress. We can form several of the basic compounds that theoretically could form cells, but only in such small proportional quantities that, chemically speaking, they're useless because the chemicals would react with all the other compounds formed with them before they could come together to form a cell. Then there's the problem of how the different compounds could even come together since they require different chemicals and conditions to form. Then there's the problem of how those compounds could have combined to form the larger complex structures they make up. And the problems just continue. Have we figured out many things that may have to do with the origins of life? Yes, sure. However that many things that we've figured out is still proportionally small compared to what we have left to figure out. Despite the much larger amount of stuff we don't know, scientists in the origin of life field make out as though we've got it all figured out rather than saying that there's still much we don't know. And that's the problem Dr Tour is pointing out.

The problem is that the majority of the scientist community today still simply ignore many clues by labelling them with the "pseudo science" label. And this kind of attitude what stops them to find the missing puzzle pieces. Instead they just desperately try convince themselves and the society how science is still making good progress. But this kind of ignorant talking from a high horse attitude can't be maintained forever, Time is on our side.

The 3 biggest differences between science and religion 1. Science: Here are the known facts, what conclusions can we draw from them? Religion: Here is the conclusions. What facts can we find that might support it? What facts must be suppressed so that our conclusion will be believed. 2. Science: When science is proven wrong, the information is embraced, and science grows from that. Religion: When religion is proven wrong, the information is suppressed, and people are imprisoned or murdered. 3. Science: We have questions we may never know the answers to. Religion: We have answers that we won’t allow to be questioned.

From Zac M, Dr. James Tour's Associate: Those are not Dr. Tour's positions. For example, he has repeatedly said that he thinks that scientists will one day understand abiogenesis, though we are farther away from that day than what gets presented to the general public. You can check out his interview with Abdu Murray on this God of the Gaps argument: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYLFdIGJaZZ-grsfeature=shared. Dr. Tour does not think having a natural explanation precludes God from using natural events to guide His creation. We have good philosophical reasons to believe in a Creator of the universe and good historical reasons to believe in Jesus's resurrection, which is central to our faith. If you don't believe in the resurrection and want to discuss its historical evidence, you can email tour@drjamestour.org. Thank you

Does Dr. James Tour suffer from TARDACITY? The latter is a neologism from "RETARD". He asks: "Why don't scientists come out and just say 'I don't know'?" But scientist do that all the time. Exactly how does he know that scientists do not admit their lack of knowledge? If any scientist is confronted with hitherto unanswerable questions, they READILY admit that they do not know. This Dr. James Tour is clearly lying and dissing scientists. He goes on to admit that "Clearly we don't know many things when it comes to the origin of life, when it comes to the origin of information, when it comes to the origin of chemical bonds would come together ..." So, the scientists do not know this, and in particular Dr. James Tour does not know this. That is it: NO ONE YET HAS THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS. The latter statement is a conclusion that Dr. James Tour himself admits and yet proclaims his belief in God. In other words, he contradicts himself and his pea brain does not notice this naked contradiction!

When you say magic it shows your level of sincerity Materialism or atheism are not science but rather philosophy Theism is a philosophy as well You say we came magically from nothing undirected and we say we came directed from a creator that his is able to manipulate the laws of the universe he created. You seem like a tribe of people lost in isolated areas that when they somehow see a lazer pointer or a smartphone in a rock they will thing that this is magic. Never ever has been proven that any of these technologies or every technology ever came undirected there is not even one business man that will leave his business undirected and expect to thrive and finally science is what can be proven and requires experience EVERY SINGLE DAY we see that only directed things thrive there is not a song without a composer , there is not functional software without a programmer, and lastly ALWAYS LIFE COMES FROM LIFE NEVER EVER VICE VERSA so the law of science everyday agree with the fact that DEAD THINGS ALWAYS STAY DEAD
