@@anthonydavies5666 it literally mean the opposite. Scientists where never claiming to know a "fifth force of nature"- that's a ridiculously contentious term that applies to plenty of concepts outside of science, in religion politics and philosophy- the only reason their called forces of nature is because Isaac Newton considered himself a theologian rather than a physicist and tried to give his work a gleam of religion and renaissance pseudoscience. in their attempt to explain this to the "Common Man"- and within the space of 3 minutes- the BBC News team have unfortunately fallen back on some very vague and simplistic language- that to people who no nothing about science make the discovery come across as scientists trying to find or replace god. they are, as the original comment said, trying to understand the movements of very small particle and how they may relate to an undiscovered smaller particle. Tl,dr: This has nothing to do with god, it has to do with sub atomic particles. The way this video explains it is simplified to an extreme degree and so will easily mislead the ignorant.

@Tiagito P it was a perfectly reasonable assumption to make given the available evidence. No probe had been sent to Venus and all the available data was based on looking from a far. As soon as the viking probe failed to land successfully and revealed how inhospitable Venus actually was (acid rain, very high gravity, makes Mustafar look like a holiday destination) they admitted they where wrong, as scientists usually do. they didn't say that life in Venus' clouds was a matter of faith and morality, or that it's existence was covered up by "them".
