An international team of scientists, working on a project in the United States, say they have discovered strong evidence for the existence of a new force of nature.
They say some sub-atomic particles - called muons - don't behave in a way predicted by current theories of physics.
The British funders of the research say that scientists are “on the precipice of a new era of physics”.
Huw Edwards presents BBC News at Ten reporting by science correspondent Pallab Ghosh.

@@anthonydavies5666 it literally mean the opposite. Scientists where never claiming to know a "fifth force of nature"- that's a ridiculously contentious term that applies to plenty of concepts outside of science, in religion politics and philosophy- the only reason their called forces of nature is because Isaac Newton considered himself a theologian rather than a physicist and tried to give his work a gleam of religion and renaissance pseudoscience. in their attempt to explain this to the "Common Man"- and within the space of 3 minutes- the BBC News team have unfortunately fallen back on some very vague and simplistic language- that to people who no nothing about science make the discovery come across as scientists trying to find or replace god. they are, as the original comment said, trying to understand the movements of very small particle and how they may relate to an undiscovered smaller particle. Tl,dr: This has nothing to do with god, it has to do with sub atomic particles. The way this video explains it is simplified to an extreme degree and so will easily mislead the ignorant.

@Tiagito P it was a perfectly reasonable assumption to make given the available evidence. No probe had been sent to Venus and all the available data was based on looking from a far. As soon as the viking probe failed to land successfully and revealed how inhospitable Venus actually was (acid rain, very high gravity, makes Mustafar look like a holiday destination) they admitted they where wrong, as scientists usually do. they didn't say that life in Venus' clouds was a matter of faith and morality, or that it's existence was covered up by "them".

For example, people don't even know we live in 3d world and 3d vision of world which is like lowest can be. And only now, after chaos in our world is over, we as human civilization will start evolving, truth and knowledge which was hidden from us, start to be revealed. Now we moving to 5th dimension, where people live happy, long, abondant and free with advanced technologies. And I am not talking about smartphones. This is nothing compare to what exist. I have always wondered why we exist at all. Life doesn't make any sense at all. People are forever looking for something to keep them going. There are those who say we need to accept life with equanimity. At the end of the day sorrow, heartbreak and all the pain we feel from the day we are born has neither rhyme nor reason. Hope the fifth force sheds some light on why life sucks and we never realize it.

We are merely at the start of our long journey. There's so much out there to discover, there always will be. But everyday we learn more and more and understand our universe better and better.
