Xenomorph Praetorian / Alien Explained

One of my favorite classes to play in AVP2, they couldnt wall walk but you could fight the ancient preds almost toe to toe

I like Praetorian Xenomorph, they were pretty much stronger than their small siblings. Some novels of alien story even mentioned that Praetorians were sometimes called as 'Elite Guards', and the only such member who capable fertilize the Queen to produced hyper fertile ovomorphs, and more stronger hive. And I would said yes, Crusher is pretty much a praetorian form of Runner. Runner capable to evolved by consumed a Royal Jelly, Runner at fist was evolved into a Sentries Xenomorph, and finally a Crusher by cocooned itself in resin.

Using your logic, would the Prowler from Fireteam be considered the warrior variant of the Runner? It is evolved from a runner, and is much stronger then its counterpart.

Cool it noice to know where these breed came from. I’m working on a AVP project where the Alien story is a Captured and genetically alter praetorian Alien that is smaller and more muscular then the other but is smarter and more adapted then the usual praetorians.

They weren’t just created to add variety to the comics and video games, but to give meaning or make sense of how the hive works/functions, like if the Queen is killed, isn’t needed, betrays the hive, or she dies from old age or disease. The Alien hive will have a bevy of princesses/gynes/transitioning females who can go through a molting/chrysalis/after being fed a ‘Royal Jelly’, type of process. Alien Praetorians are those who’re destined to become Queens, Royal Guards, or something far more worse, whereas the worker Aliens are typically barren and cannot become queens. Having a queen is what makes a “queenright” hive, nest, or colony of eusocial insects.

So heres a fun fact for this 2 year old video. in the AVP game from 2010. from mission 5(I think) onward, if you look at Speciman 6's shadow, you'll see she has the Praetorian skin as her crest has changed and her finger design has aswell. (however this is not reflected in the cutscenes)

I dont like the idea that the Queen is just a molting stage of any alien drone. If thats what the powers that be decide, ok fair enough, but the idea that there are drones and their derivatives on one side, and queens and their derivatives on the other makes for a richer universe; and a more interesting set of rules.

If it makes you feel any better thats not exactly the case and they chose to make a queen instead of seperating them because considering the predatory nature of Xenomorphs and considering the way they reproduce they'd certainly turn on each other quickly if that were the case. Plus it's worth mentioning that there are a plethora of requirements to Become a Xenomorph queen that won't allow more than one queen to be molted at a given time anyways. (I believe it has happened once and they immediately proceeded to kill it). It's also worth mentioning that an actual queen Cannot be birthed anyways without the use of a royal facehugger which only one or two are produced in order to create a praetorian for the queen. (Should the queen die only the praetorian would morph into a new queen if given time, not any of the drones or warriors)

Xenomorph XX121 are perfect organism, soo it doesn't surprise me if single Drone able molted into Queen. Also if you read some expanded universe like comics, novels, and games. Their life cycle are pretty much based on that ants, bees, and wasps with far more perfection.

@@rizkyramadhansoundwave8555 I personally loved seeing the eggmorphing scene in the later releases of Alien, because it showed versatility, and adaptability, and an endgame for the alien on board. Saying that such an alien could just decide 'hey, screwit, im gonna molt'...I just think thats hollywood.

What would've happen if an Ultramorph became a Praetorian and then turn into a Queen? How big would it be in its praetorian stage and then in its queen stage? The ultramorph stands about 16+ ft tall

Most likely, this comment will get lost but I'll ask anyway. Have you considered checking the monsters from 'evolve'? Not the best of games but the monster designs were beautiful. And gigantic if the wiki is Canon instead of the in-game ones

They should make the next stage between a Praetorian and Queen called the Alien Prince. Give it the extra pair of arms and make the headcrest have the long protrusion of the King, and also make it strong enough to split a tank in half. That would be totally nuts to witness.

Actually, you're not far off. If a Xeno queen does die. A Praetorian will molt into the next new Queen, given enough time. And if multiple Praetorians are around. I would assume they would fight for leadership to see who is the strongest.
