Viele Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt dringt die enterprise dorthin vor, wo nie jemand zuvor gewesen ist" (Space infinite vastness, we are in a distant future these are the adventures of the starship enterprise. IT's give year Mission to Discover new worlds new life and new civilizations. Many lightyears away from earth the enterprise enters where no man has gone before) (a mixmatch of the German TOS TNG and SNW intro monologues)

@@LAJ-47FC9 The show is a terrible mix of TNG and TOS. Captain Kirk was bold, he’d see wrongs and try to right them. Go against the prime directive when it was woke, ridiculous or stupid. Pike looks bold but acts wimpy! He’s written to be indecisive…waiting for others to make decisions. S1E06 About the young boy being sacrificed for the “good” of the planet was nothing more than ignorant natives throwing the young virgin in the volcano to appease the false “gods”. That’s exactly what Captain Kirk fought against. Captain Pike just let it continue. Very UnStarTrek.

I hope the producers keep up the new tradition of inserting new clips each season. Amazing what this "Graphics AI upscale" program or whatever this dude did to upscale the intro, once again you've captured it beautifully so really does look true 4K with a higher framerate too! Don't have monitor that can do 8K just yet. Just imagine what we can do to old TV shows using these apps in the not so distant future, or even to video games for that matter! Nvidia already has some nifty overly filters in that department that removes alot of built-in blurriness in recent games to truly bring out textures.

The first season intro had me already. I had a sense going into Discovery and Picard that I wasn't going to love them because the intros set the tone for something edgy and brooding. Like Game Of Thrones in space. Or Batman. Both things that were good in their own right, but were not Star Trek. Star Trek trying to be them: also not Star Trek. I've seen/heard the takes both for and against Strange New Worlds, but as someone who grew up with the TMP movies my dad owned in a VHS collection, and some TNG... I love it SO much. Star Trek is hope for a better future. I don't care how many people disagree, that is what it is to me. It's a way for some of us to indulge in a fantasy where the future isn't dystopian, where humanity isn't just a galactic plague, and where it turns out that not all aliens want to kill us, or even have any reason to. Strange New Worlds embodies these things where Discovery and Picard largely haven't. They've tried to talk about issues close to home for us, by depicting them as *still being issues for people in the future*. That is not Star Trek. Call it pretentious. Call it preachy. If you can't handle a science fiction show, set in the distant future, trying to demonstrate what humanity *could* do... Then you're probably a half-decent example of what it shouldn't. I'm kind of drunk right now and I'm pretty sure I started writing this comment with different intentions than the way I ended it. Either way I'm heated now, so go inhale some table salt and thanks for reading.

@ScifinewsDE
@ScifinewsDE Жыл бұрын
thanks for your feedback. None of those "filmmakers" pay any more attention to the correct use of 24 frames per second and the associated strict corset of image composition. Apart from a few exceptions. SNW is unfortunately no different than most other productions: in terms of image design, it is not suitable for 24fps. Anyone who watches the series on the big screen and is subject to complete immersion due to the distance between the seats will immediately see a lot of judder, uneven use of digital motion blur, etc. due to the inappropriate image design. Especially in the CGI sequences, the motion blur shown does not match the object movement. This is often used to hide weak render quality... (we don't do it differently in our CGI intro to the video review^^) Also the movement speeds don't fit. In the SNW intro it is especially present at the point where in the wide angle shot the Enterprise flies across the picture. Sit in front of your TV with a distance so that you can't see the edges of the TV when you look straight ahead, so about 40-60cm in front of a 50" TV. This would be equal to the "cinema experience" where the screen is so big that you are sitting "in the middle of the action". Compare that with the aerial shots from "Collateral", one of the last movies that really got the 24fps aspect right. And after all, the 24p standard was just a compromise to save costs at that time. Now, of course, not everyone watches on a 4 meter wide screen and what I personally see as a big problem, is not noticeable at all, because TV or display sizes are much smaller or the seating distance is different. I for one, with an optimized home theater experience, see these discrepancies very clearly and therefore have for almost all newer productions and films the interframe calculation active to compensate for an exhausting viewing experience. For a few newer productions, you can turn it off (hello Zack Snyder) because the production has placed value on the correct use of the frame rate. SNW has not. 😜

Ds9 Cgi had the premise to replicate the old school model shots and combine this with the freedom of computer generated graphics. This, of course, is extremely time consuming since you truly have to replicate an established look and feel. And since the templates were real models with real lighting the result had to adhere to these rules. Modern 'bullshit' CGI just throws a bunch of 3d models in an arbitrary 3d space and let's particles and cameras spin. And that's why it looks 'unreal'. Because it is and it is not even trying to emulate real physics, lighting or plausible movement. Take "the expanse" for comparison - there you have realistic fake space. And it shows

This iteration is far better than Startrek: Discovery and the casting is a bit more tolerable gang. However, despite enjoying the episode format, I cannot see we are seeing a development of a consistent story among all the episodes. Instead, in Season 2 we follow one and one actor as the main focus in each episode. We witness Spock turning more into a human and kiss Jess Bush like in a teenage drama and I find the story development moving all over the place. I though we were to see more about these "Gorn" we have been told so much about and temporal warriors. Instead we end up in a polished Star Trek with good CGI and okay actors, but scripting is a bit poor now. What we would like to see is Season 2 moving towards some conclusion. Even Star Trek Discovery or terrible acronym STD managed to do that.

You sure this is a TV show and not some awesome new video game? Because it looks very video game-y.

As much as i like the show, i'm still not a fan of this intro. The CGI looks more like a videogame than a TV series, its too fake. I suppose its what happens when you use CGI instead of a real physical model.
