In this video I run through the answers to a question in the L2 Mechanics SciPAD about a gymnast on a beam. We calculate torque and support force. Centre of Mass and Equilibrium are also discussed.
**Note that I have decided that support "B" was the pivot. I did this question 'the long way' so you can see that it doesn't matter what support you use as the pivot. The answer will come out the same in the end.
You could take a shortcut by carrying out calculations using support "A" as the pivot - this way you would save a step and find the force applied from support B quicker.**
