Thanks for sharing your journey. It helps to know that there are others out there that are in pain all the time. It’s so true that we never know what people are going through. I was in a car accident when I was 11 which almost paralyzed me and even some of my closest friends don’t know. In the accident I fractured my L3 and had to learn how to walk again I was also in a back brace for 3 months and in PT for a few months. After that we thought I was ok and I started getting back to my life. I actually ended up cheering for 3 years. I have always had pain and we just thought it was because of the break in my L3. Turned out that my back was still broken but in my L5. We found that out 2 years ago when the pain was too much to handle. Haha my back has been broken for 10 years! Like no wonder I was in so much pain. I have been having Radio-frequency Ablation on my nerves so that I don’t feel as much pain as well as PT. I will probably have to have surgery in the future but as of now this is working. I was actually able to get in on Tuesday and have my right side done even with everything going on with the virus. It means a lot to hear your story. Your so strong.

krystalin kagie Wow, thank you for sharing your story with me! My best friend was in a car accident the same day I went in for this last surgery and she also fractured her back (along with other complications) and wore a brace after and is still doing PT. I’ll have to look into the nerve therapy you are doing! I’m glad it’s working for you and you can hold off on surgery. After surgery #1 I had no idea that the screws were pulling back at the top of my fusion and I was involved in cross country running at my school. Whole time running with loose screws in my back! I was in pain, but doctors kept telling me I was fine. There’s always a reason for pain though!

Sarah Johnson I cant imagine how that would feel to run with that happening. There really is a reason for why your in pain and I feel like a lot of us just ignore it. My parents just thought that my pain was from the accident and I would always have it but I was hurting for a reason. Yeah my doctors all said I was ok to cheer just not do any compact sports but my last year cheering I was in so much pain it was hard to walk and I couldn’t carry anything heavier than a gallon of milk. I have learned to listen to my body and stop doing things that hurt me. I have loved following along with your journey. Thanks for sharing 💕

I’m 29 just delivered my daughter without needing c section ... I was fused in 2005 at age 13 I am fused T1-T12 I have disk degeneration L1area and I too suffer from chronic pain in shoulder blade area and my hips due to lower curve ... my curve before surgery was near 60 and my lower curve is around 25-30 so didn’t need surgery... I’ve done PT which does help in some ways , I also have had trigger point injections , SI joint injections and a epidural

Wow no C section! Did the injections help? What age did you find out you have disk degeneration?

do you know if rods breaking and stuff like that is normal?? like, does it happen to a lot of people or is it rare? I'm planning on having surgery soon and that really scares me! do you regret doing it?

What type of meds do u take for pain 3 months out?
@SarahJohnsonScoliosis4 жыл бұрын
Just Tylenol. I used to be on Naproxen when I had pain after previous surgeries, but there is a debate over whether ibuprofen products or NSAIDS hinder the healing process after fusions. I won't take ibuprofen until I'm a year post op just to be safe. Here and there I'll take a muscle relaxer at night If I'm having severe pain. I'll attach an article regarding NSAIDS after spinal fusion: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15790089/
