The game looks amazing. I am sorry that I passed on the KS and now it’s 250 dollars or 48.00 for the base box with only 3 monsters so it won’t have variety.

I agree! That price is ridiculous and not worth it! No way! It’s definitely worth the price I paid for it, though. It stinks when games get price gouged like that. You’re right, having only 3 monsters is a game changer when it comes to variety and not in a good way. However, if found on a good sale, it still may be well worth it! It’s sad because I think for people that love Scooby-Doo, this is a game I think they’d really enjoy.

Those minis would make the purchase worth it for me but a good game on top of that? I need this. I know you mentioned doing this for the love of the hobby but we can all hope that this channel blows up. When I was in the service it was the Super Nintendo and Street Fighter for me, gave me that bit of 'home' that I really needed being away from my family and away from the world really as I spent most of time away on deployment. Thank goodness we didn't need to hook up to the internet just to play a video game back then.

When you related your story about how you'd come home and watch these cartoons and how much simpler life was when you were a little kid, man... I choked, I'm not jokin. Can't wait for this to become available for purchase in this part of the world, I want to play this with my two boys so much! And you're absolutely right, not every board game needs to be super complex or super deep. Simplicity is great too! Like you say, if it's fun, well that's all we need! Man, comments like the one you wrote here is EXACTLY why I make these videos! You get it! Nostalgia is a big part of what makes me happy. Both of my kids are now in high school and when they were little, I shared with them everything I loved as a kid! We had amazing experiences together and bonded because of that! I can tell you do that with your kids, as well. That’s really nice. You’re kids will never forget those moments. Trust me! Scooby-Doo hit me hard with nostalgia and that story I told cements Scooby-Doo as giving me one of the most special memories of my lifetime. I’m glad you enjoyed this video because I poured my heart into it. It was really nice to read your comment. It meant a lot!! The puzzle aspect of the game could be thought of as solving the mystery, and building the trap at the End to catch the monster is just Icing on the cake for this Nostalgic game of fun.

Its a great theme and looks great. You always pick games with great themes. Unfortunately, the retail version isnt anywhere near as nice. Figures are not painted and there is no Mystery Machine. Bummer.

I noticed that, too. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t recommend the retail version. It also doesn’t include all of the extra monsters which is what makes the game fun. There’s only 3 in the retail edition.

Can I ask what type/size of sleeves you have used to protect your deck please? Probably a bit of a ‘newbie’ question but I’m just wanting to buy some whilst I wait for the game to be delivered through the week! Purchased it due to your really good review! If it helps I’ve heard dragon shield and sleeve king are good brands? But I’m not sure on size! Thank you! 😆😆

Sure, no problem! Welcome to the hobby and I hope you find some great games to play! For the small cards, I used Gamegenic Mini American 44x67. For the regular sized cards, I used Gamegenic standard size 66x91. Finally for the big cards, I used Gamegenic Dixit/Mysterium 81x122. Just as a heads-up, Dragon Shields are great but EXTREMELY expensive. If you end up really getting into the hobby and like to sleeve your cards, there are much cheaper options. Personally, I’ve enjoyed Gamegenic and I heard Sleeve Kings are good, as well. I own and have played very “shuffle heavy” games and the sleeves I use work great! I’ve been able to buy all of those sizes you’ve mentioned in the UK pretty easily 😊 Myself and my wife had our first game of ‘looney tunes mayhem’ (with all the expansion characters) took us both a while to get our heads around it, but was really good in the end..hoping scooby soo is similar! Looks like there’s not quite as much to remember 🤞🏻🙈😂

this game looks awesome. Unfortunately buying on eBay right now is going to cost you a fortune. The retail version is missing SIX monsters. Board game companies really try to give EA/Activision etc. a run for their money.

Yeah, I noticed that, too! The price gouging is insane! I used to play video games all the time, however, I don’t play as much as I used to because of the live service/loot box direction many games have gone. Hopefully, board games don’t completely go the EA/Ubisoft/Activision route (although sometimes it gets close). It’s a shame about Scooby-Doo because if your a fan of the old show, it’s a great game to add to the collection. Maybe someone out there will sell it at a fair price. I’d recommend checking out your local board game shops. I got lucky with mine, they back a lot of KS and sell them for a good price.

Scooby-Doo brings so many good memories! Did you get a life sized pinball machine? I grew up playing pinball machines back in the day (80’s). There’s a game on PS4 called Pinball FX and I have a huge collection of tables but they don’t compare to the real thing.

Yess(: i did get the real deal Scooby Doo where are you pinball machine, by spooky pinball co, they are in Wisconsin! they did an amazing job with it! & That's awesome to hear you're a fan! far as pinball FX & virtual pinball it looks like a blast trying out so many different playfields on all sorts of pins! I never had the chance to try out virtual pins yet! but I definitely will sometime! And I might upload some shorts of the Scooby Doo one!

How do you play it with 5 characters? Do you draw their Scooby Gang cards and choose without looking at them so there is more surprise in the game with Initiative or do you not worry about being surprised and just look at all the Scooby Gang cards and then choose what to keep and what to put in the save deck? I like the Idea of playing with the whole gang as well. Great review I really enjoyed it!

The way I play it is that I draw two cards face-down for every character. Then, one-by-one, I chose a card for each character seeing the card for the previous character but keeping the upcoming character cards face-down until a card for each character is chosen. That allows you to plan ahead slightly. However, since you can’t see all of the upcoming cards dealt until each character has revealed their card, it maintains a sense of mystery. Admittedly, as each character reveals their card, you are then able to slightly plan ahead but you will never get the full picture except when you’re picking the card for the final character. I hope this made sense to you. It worked really well for me and it really helps me enjoy the game a lot! It’s the only way I play the game.

Yeah, I was bummed too! Thankfully, the game is fun but very simplistic. If you’re on the fence, maybe just wait until the retail version releases. I think nostalgia will play a big factor on how much you’ll enjoy the game.

If I’m not mistaken, the retail edition comes out early this year. January or February, I believe. However, it will not include all of the minis shown in this video and they will not be painted. I’m not sure if there will be another print of the deluxe version.
