I love the gameplay B-roll at the beginning; great addition! Metro Runner seems like a nice, smooth experience. You have to love when a game has a true solo mode that doesn’t remove any core elements of gameplay. Thanks for the review!

Great to see you back! I always enjoy your videos -- great recommendation for Adventures in Creative Software, by the way. I've used their videos to help learn a couple of games now. I'm glad you were able to deal with those issues in your home. Life gets in the way sometimes, but its good to hear you've been able to get in some gaming! Have a great summer!

Greetings from Mexico. What an excellent review, Congrats. I saw a lot of videos trying to figure it out if this board game was worth it. This video alone helped me decide to buy it so I can have a family night with my kids. I really hope your channel blows up, your content has a lot of love and care. Just saw your review for the Ghostbusters x Men in Black, and although it’s a cool game definitely not what I need with my kids ages. Already subscribed!

The love for board games is so obvious, here. Just achingly respectful of the hobby/pastime/culture/art. The sleeving! The presentation? You gave me close ups so crisp I could see the weaving of the cards. The best kind of card quality! The kind of card quality that makes your fingers shout with joy. Riveting.

Absolutely! I can tell you appreciate the hobby just as much as I do. Getting closeup shots of the board and components is very important to me and I’m glad you noticed. It makes the time and effort put into making a video worth it. I truly enjoyed your comment!

Alas, I found that approximately 1 minute per game in describing the game was far too shallow. There is not enough content to warrant making actual purchasing decisions.

Good thing that there’s a review on the channel for almost every game shown here 😉. If not, the video would be too long and long videos, going by my experience, tend to not be watched.

@bobbell4227 10 күн бұрын
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight, true, long videos are not as popular. But I don’t recall any mentions that there were full reviews of the games also available. A mention every 3-4 games would have been useful. Why are there no links to the reviews in the description?

So this or roll player adventures??
@SoloBoardGamingKnight
@SoloBoardGamingKnight 13 күн бұрын
Both games are completely different experiences. For example, Hoplomachus Victorum is an extremely heavy and complex game (although you get used to it after a while). Also, it demands A LOT of time to play with a lot of options available to you which can extend your play session significantly. Roll Player Adventures is not that complex and not that heavy. However, this also demands a lot of time to play but the tension is much lower and the focus is more on the adventure. It’s almost like playing a point-and-click adventure game. Ultimately, it depends on the type of game you want to play. Both are great choices but one is much more challenging and taxing than the other. If you’re looking for a fun challenging yet enjoyable time, choose Roll Player Adventures. If you’re looking for a challenging game that will test your limits, choose Hoplomachus Victorum. Hope this helps!

This was actually the game that got this channel started. For me, this game holds a sentimental value because of that. Even with that, I really enjoy the game, however, I heard the second edition of the game was better but I never played that one. I think this is a really good game.

Quick question: do you think it's worth buying the Kickstarter version with the miniatures instead of the standees? And in the campaign, are they truly solo or do you need to house rule the campaign to make it work solo?
@SoloBoardGamingKnight
@SoloBoardGamingKnight 23 күн бұрын
There is a solo campaign and it works really well. You can also solo some one-off games, as well. I didn’t get the miniatures version when I bought the first Ascension Tactics and I did regret it. They’re not needed to enjoy the game but I prefer playing with miniatures.

@@SoloBoardGamingKnight I've heard some people say it's better with miniatures and others say they are too large. Personal preference maybe? I love miniatures even though I never paint them. Unsteady hands. But you think this is definitely worth solo only and the replayability is there?
@SoloBoardGamingKnight
@SoloBoardGamingKnight 23 күн бұрын
@@joefell5311 I have very unsteady hands, too. I have, however, been slowly painting my Imperial Assault miniatures. As far as replayability for Ascension Tactics, this is one game that I would recommend as a solo game, however, I would STRONGLY recommend it if you are able to play it versus, as well. The solo is fun but overall, it is much more replayable if you have someone to play against. On that note, it is a great player vs. player game.

@@SoloBoardGamingKnight well, you've convinced me. I was watching the only Kickstarter I could find and just bought it. Probably paid way more than I should have. Unfortunately it will only ever get played solo. So hopefully I made a good choice. Thanks for your help.

Great video! It's obvious you put in A LOT of work into your content, it is very much appreciated! I've a question, what solo mode do you use for Marvel Legendary? It's one of the first boardgames I purchased when I started in the hobby, but I only played it a couple times before getting hooked on Aeon's End for deck building. I'd like to go back and give it another shot. Thanks!

Thanks! I sometimes play solo with the solo rules included with Dark City and other times I play two-handed. Both modes are great. Now, Aeon’s end is great, too! I didn’t buy the most recent legacy game but I have everything that has come out before that. Aeon’s End is a phenomenal deck builder and it almost made the list. I have a special storage solution for it to make it easier and quicker to get to the table.

Been watching your videos since the beginning. One of the best reviewers. Question which CTG should I get Burncycle or TMB? I like the way they both look but its a CTG so I can only invest in one.
@SoloBoardGamingKnight

It’s always nice to know when someone has been along for the ride since the beginning! Thank you for your kind words. You’re right, CTG’s tend to require a lot of investment to really enjoy their games. In my opinion, TMB is the game I would recommend most. Both Burncycle and TMB are great but I feel TMB has the most variety of the two. However, that does assume you purchase at least a few extra Gearlocs. I would actually recommend Undertow as the perfect place to start, get a feel for the game and take it from there. In truth, both games are really fun but overall TMB takes the cake. Hope this helps!
