you ever wonder why some artists say things like “it took me 3 years to make this” these are some of the reasons why.. let’s not talk about corrections if something cracks, doesn’t dry well, bumbled, melted, morphed, chipped, fell off, changed colors because you did not seal it well, now you gotta remove what you did seal for even finishing touches… or even, you got better with a skill per say lips or eyes & want to retouch the final product, or you learn something new…then comes the drying process…all over again, praying that it results well after all of your efforts…

It takes forever! Even just drying a smaller project usually takes about a week and you have to keep it covered with damp paper towel and such to make sure it doesn’t crack. You can’t kiln fire it until it gets to a certain point in the drying process.

yeah a lot of people don't realize how long some art needs to just kinda hang out and not be touched lol back when i still painted with oils, whenever people would ask me to paint them something they'd be shocked when I told them that their painting will need to wait several months before i can put varnish on it safely (like a minimum of 6 months, to be safe) they usually then asked me for acrylic paintings, which are dry in minutes, lol

To the people asking what a Lobotomy is (related to a comment in the comments section). A Lobotomy is a surgery consisted of making holes in the skull, removing some brain tissue, and severing the connections between the frontal lobe and the thalamus. Lobotomies were done to relief people with mental illness, but now the surgery isn’t used much due to medicines and side effects from the procedure (like death.)

@@donnastan101Yeah, there used to be ads for them and people genuinely believed it would "fix" their problems, not knowing the actual effects. People got them for themselves or their family members, even without permission.

Specifically, a sharp tool was put up through the eyelid and into the brain (damaging the skull in the process), and then wiggled around until the victim became incoherent. It was proceeded by the less extreme but still morally questionable leucotomy, which targeted a similar area but did less damage. The idea for the leucotomy, if I'm not mistaken, came from research on two chimps; the formerly aggressive and dangerous animals were rendered calm and docile after getting leucotomized

O. M. G. I'm someone who LOVES baking and art and I just had the COOLEST idea for a cake to gift to a makeup obsessed friend. (I love makeup too) The base can be a red velvet sponge cake (I make a tasty red velvet cake) layered with some dark chocolate ganache and carved into a dome with a facial structure. Then I can bake a layer of gingerbread cookie dough into a face shape (I can shape and sculpt foil into a face then bake the gingerbread dough on top). After that's baked, I can fill the hollow parts with ganache or marzipan and stick it on top of the cake for stability. Then I could either apply marzipan or ganache over the gingerbread, texture it like skin face and paint some realistic details with edible paint (like eyes, natural skin details like dark circles and pimples etc.) Then from there I can add a dragons beard candy wig. After that I could either do the cake face makeup myself or make edible makeup for my friend to apply herself. I could buy cheap empty makeup containers and fill them with edible makeup and provide some clean makeup brushes. I would also provide lashes made with black royal icing that sets hard like sprinkles. What I'd put in makeup containers: cocoa powder for contour and eyeshadow, some freeze dried strawberry powder for blush and eyeshadow, some peachy/ivory coloured white chocolate mixed with a bit of cocoa butter for "concealer" (can be remelted and blended with a clean sponge), dark chocolate for eyeliner (can be remelted), edible glitters, black cocoa powder for dark eyeshadow or contours etc. I would also provide edible glue for the "lashes" which can also work as gloss (might mix it with colours too). Sorry this is so long 😂

Btw, for anyone wondering why the clay isnt really changing its shape being set on the table and grabbed, its because its most likely at a stage called 'leather hard' or atleast thats what the space I was taught from called it, its a stage of the clay where its not quite dry, and nor quite wet, its usually used to add texture, remove texture, and, as you see here carve out spaces or surface layer designs in order to make sure it keeps its shape
