I have been so fortunate to have Dr. Teskey work on my horses for the last 12+ years! He's trimmed my barefoot horses, and done all my horses teeth for years. He is the real deal and listen to him! I do have a mare that had shoes when I got her 9 years ago, at age 4. I was actually embarrassed to bring her to Dr. Teskey because I knew I was doing the wrong thing. But I was competing, and doing a lot of trail riding and it would be incovenient to pull her shoes. In April 2023, my horse suffered what was diagnosed as a suspensory tear, a small one. (still not sure if it was true). I was told to lay her up for the whole Summer, months and months. The vet wanted me to put on some special shoe. That was the moment I realized it was time to pull my mare's shoes! I did! It's been a bit of an uphill battle, but she's doing pretty well in her pen. I have just ordered a full set of Scoot Boots and can't wait to get them. As soon as I pulled my horses shoes, I felt this weight lifted off my shoulders. Finally an excuse to do it! Before, she was "pointing" quite a bit, now, no pointing. I hope I dodged a bullet!! Thanks to Dr. Teskey and my trimmer Tim Lawrence, for making me feel guilty about shoes on my horse. ;) PS, you should see how beautiful my Gelding's feet are, he's been barefoot for over a decade.

I like this guy! He’s thinking “big picture”. The moment he mentioned he has ideas how to get peoples horses outside more even with limited acres…would love to hear his ideas! Gonna check out his book for sure.

I expect you normally see your vet wearing a white lab coat, smoothly shaven and a combed his hair? Maybe if you watch this interview again with your eyes closed, you'll be able to judge on what you hear...
