Before trading Damian Lillard, the Portland Trailblazers drafted the future of the franchise in Scoot Henderson. He had a rough rookie NBA season, but don't sell your stock. He is far from a draft bust. SUBSCRIBE

I remember when people knew it takes until year 3 to see how a young guard has truly developed. Nobody has any patience anymore and it absolutely ruins the discourse around basketball.

He has played 62 games. Most of them as a teenager. He is a hustler. In Scoot we trust.

lol. Garland shot over40% from the field, and 36% from long. NOT the same kind of bad.

I don't think Scoot is a bust; he just had a tough adjustment to the NBA coming from the G League. Victor was playing against grown men, and Miller played against top competition in college. If you see Scoot in person, he's not that big, so his adjustment is going to take some time.

This season, I quickly accepted that we couldn't expect much from him because the transition was tougher than we thought. But next season, I'm looking for a serious glow-up. Totally with you on all your points, though-him always favoring his right hand for layups is just wild for an NBA player. Next season, I'll give him some more time, but I want to see way more aggression when he's driving to the hoop and on defense. A few games with over 25 points and getting close to a triple-double would be dope (he's got the physique for it). If he develops well and our front office does their job (yeah, I know it sounds weird), we've got a solid core with him and Shaedon.

People definitely put a lot of pressure on him, but at the end of the day his nba debut was concerningly bad. He was way better as the reg season went on. If he didn't show improvement like he did, I would be worried about him long term. I'm just hoping he can develop a consistent shot. Portland doesn't need to get their hearts ripped out like russ did to the thunder.

I think it takes about 4-5 years before you could consider a player a bust. I think he will improve. I didn't get to watch him too much. Being thrown into the fire at point guard to me I think would be difficult, I'm curious how much I am without shoes, I'm probably about 6ft 3 to 6ft 4 with shoes, probably 6ft 1 to 6ft 2 without , I'm only guessing. Granted when I played in 8th grade, I didn't understand most of the plays, so I think I could be a sharpshooter,

You can’t take that long with a high pick. After year 3,they’re going to be expecting an extension, and if they haven’t shown significant upside, you’re dumb to give it to them.

Let’s wait a few years before we cry bust. He was still a teenager last year plus it’s not his fault he got picked so early by the Blazers of all teams.

I would like to see Scoot and Wiseman on the same team. Two of the biggest busts in recent NBA history.

I think Scoot should petition the NBA to wear a see-through mesh jersey and then he needs to get like two big nipple rings that everyone can see through the mesh Jersey. Also, he needs some body tattoos that are like neon colors.

I do think Scoot is going to get worse next year. He doesn't want to be great. His motor is low when it comes to working out.

Henderson got drafted by the worst Franchise in the NBA. The Blazers are so disorganized, some of their starters play half a season then quit. "Can't play tonight coach Billups, my cat bit my finger."

Portland got scammed. Oh well, there's already more terrible seasons and maybe better rookies planned for the Blazers future.
