The PG is one of the hardest positions to learn in the NBA. He is slowly adapting and adjusting his game. He is athletically gifted and has great size for a PG.

He’s got long arms, huge hands, and he’s built, as a rookie he’s already stronger than most guards- not only that but he’s really slithery and agile, so defensively he’s a pest and he has a really high motor. Physically he’s around the same height as guys like Dame and Curry but he has a completely different athletic profile and as a defender he can capably switch much better, he rebounds well and catches some surprise blocks on closeouts learning from Thybulle and Sharpe (two pogo sticks who excel in that area as guards.)

I disagree. It’s the easiest position for a rookie. Look at Doncic, he was fat, slow and too big for the position, despite all of that, he had a very good 1st season in the NBA.

doesn’t explain his shooting inconsistencies just because he’s PG but he’s still young will improve he needs to become more efficient in all of his 20 point games he’s taken 20+ FGA which is very bad and isnt winning basketball, these are things that are going to improve though and hes already a top playmaker

He has good shot mechanics...maybe he just needs to tweak it a little. His feel for the game is there. It's more about feel of the game and his teammates like he mentioned. The speed of the NBA is different than the G-League. In addition, he has been injured, which led to him missing some games, so he has had to get re-acclimated with the speeds of the game. You can tell Scoot wants to be a student of the game by the way he approaches it if people watch carefully.

It’s definitely not a new thing. It’s been a thing for the past 25+ years. Players are criticized harsher now though thanks to social media. People expect rookies to come in and be great right off the bat and hold them to such high expectations, not realizing that even 15 years ago most players played more than one season in college. Guys had a chance to grow stronger and bigger and thus produce better a couple years ago, now they no longer have that luxury and people don’t realize that these guys are 18/19 years old and haven’t had the adequate time to actually adjust and grow stronger and acclimate to the style of play and pace. Back when players spent years in college, they were coming in more NBA ready because they were playing other players who would go on to join the league who had developed more I know Scoot played in the g league but that might as well have been college, he didn’t even play a full season. Yes some players have no problem adjusting, but one year removed from high school isn’t long enough for most guys to actually develop their game and adjust enough to the league. It’s insane the expectations we place on these guys.

Give the boy some time people, you can see him improving ... Fans dont realize how lucky we got with Dame, how he was impactful and game changing right away, and the fact he was 22 as a rookie. Its not fair to expect that to be the standard.

No one really got a good idea of how good Shaedon Sharpe could be until the last 10 games of his rookie season . Scoot is already beginning to show how good a player he can be and we're just a third of the way into his rookie season. What stands out to me is how next level some of his passes are. Not just next level. Next galaxy. And that's what I want from a point guard. Assists. Passing the ball which shows that he takes advantage of the his teammates scoring positions during the game. And of course, scoring, which he's beginning to do during this month of December with two double doubles and almost a third. I liked the pick, but felt that he needed to come off the bench until he was truly NBA game speed ready. Again, using Shaedon Sharpes rookie year history as an example. Brogdon has been a good PG to learn from and now Scoot appears to be arriving at NBA game speed level. I'm really looking forward to seeing how he continues to elevate his game.and help the rest of the Blazers games.

scoot is a great guy and seems to have a lot of love for the sport! it's so sad if media drags young "kids" down telling they're a bust after just a few games.. pre draft hype just sucks.. even tho he went "only" 3rd he was hyped up as clear cut #1 pick in any year without a wemby or maybe a bron in his class.. thats how much he got hyped up! and it's really not scoot's fault if media sets crazy expectation and afterwards media feels disapointed.. just let him arrive in the league and i'm sure he will be great in a few years !

Looking at Ant and Sharpe you could argue that they don't even need Scoot. But if Scoot also becomes that player he was tipped to become then that team is going to be a big problem for the league.

If you look at a lot of star players today, they are never insanely good right away. That can go for any sport. Except for rare breeds like Luka that just pop off instantly. I think by seasons end Scoot will be averaging 15 and 6 or 7 and that is very respectable for a 19 year old PG

He still has potential and has been improving slightly each game but he is struggling to finish from everywhere on the floor. Most advanced metrics say he has been the worst player in the league on offense to play over 500 minutes. If he had been drafted late first round he doesn't even see the floor. He is also pretty bad on defense and struggles off ball. I am a blazer fan and was happy when he fell past Charlotte but him going from historically terrible to just bad isn't going to silence critics. I wanted us to trade the #3 pick for Zion but that was probably just ESPN rumors and never possible. Blazers have a funky roster with decent rotation vets and a bunch of young players who are terrible according to advanced metrics. I kind of hope blazers do a complete reshuffle and move everyone they can but Ant for other pieces since the jump started re-build doesn't work if Scoot is mediocre. With a Mitchell, Lavine or Siakam they could become a good defensive team with an ok offense but that seems really hard to pull off with the current contracts and no free agents ever picking Portland.

In the last 5 games Scoot has shot 33 of 88 or 37.5%. On the season he is shooting 36.6% so I guess its progress. He also has 22 turnovers or 4.4 per game which would be the highest rate in the league.
