Great video. I guess that you have to do it on both front discs if it has two of them. So bleeding it on each side separately. Thanks for the answer. Cheers.

Yessir! You're correct. On the ADV 150 (US version) the rear brake is drum, not disk. In other countries they have disk front and back. There's more demand for it in other countries because people expect it I feel.

Do I need to bleed it when adding brake fluid?
@Trekopolis
@Trekopolis Жыл бұрын
I don't when I'm simply topping it off or adding a little. If you change it completely then yes, or if there's a chance it gets very low and causes air in the tubing, then I'd bleed them if possible.

Greetings, thanks for the video on ADV150. What does the service manual says about replacing the Fuel Filter on the Honda ADV150? Been scouring the net trying to figure out how to do this. Additionally, a video on how to replace the fuel filter would be much appreciated haha...
@Trekopolis
@Trekopolis Жыл бұрын
Good question. The manual only states to inspect the fuel line every 4k, but doesn't mention replacing the fuel filter unless there are signs of fuel line or loss of pressure. Pressure at idle is noted at 38-46 psi. I'd reckon you'd need a fuel pressure tester to really know. There is a fuel filter, but it's not anything I see needing replaced unless there's problems. At least according to the service manual. I'm curious if any dealer has ever replaced one. 🤔
@RoyStevenUngKengSoon
@RoyStevenUngKengSoon Жыл бұрын
@@Trekopolis According to friends and ADV groups, the fuel filter needs to be replaced every 20K as the fuel filter can be clogged. Signs that the filter needs replacing includes loss of power. Mine has been 23K, which is why I am curious to know

Just in case it has any dirt or grime so none of it falls into the reservoir. No, it's usually not a concern, just threw that in there. Some bikes are filthy, especially dirt bikes.

I've never removed anything but the top cover so I wouldn't know exactly. I wish I could provide more. Have you searched the Internet for leaky brake fluid reservoir? I looked at the service manual and there isn't much detail on that. Here's an idea: If you're not a member of this Facebook Group I highly suggest joining and posting your question there. You'll get a lot of feedback from the people who like to tinker on their bikes. facebook.com/groups/266428567756162/ Good Luck and I'm sure somebody will offer suggestions.

Thanks for the video. On scooters with rear drum brakes…does the drum need to be bled or does that use a cable system?
@Trekopolis

Drum brakes don't use brake fluid, just a cable/camshaft that presses and expands shoes that push outward on the inside of the drum.

@Trekopolis
@Trekopolis 4 ай бұрын
The process is actually very easy. You open the bleed valve and gravity does the work as you pump the brake handle slowly. Once enough new fluid has passed through the system and you see the fresh fluid exit the tube you're done. Close the valve and top it off!

Make sure the seal is good on the top fluid cap reservoir and close the bleed valve and pump the lever to check pressure after the fluid drains with no bubbles or air. If there's still no pressure you may have a leak somewhere else like a cable or connection. Also be sure to use the proper fluid so it's not too thin like standard oil. Just making sure. :) @@jabzziijbz69

Really nice video! Thanks! I have the same brake fluid tank on my Honda, with the same inscriptions. What do you say? I need to refill with brake fluid, but I don't know if it's DOT3 or DOT 4 now in the system... Would it be safe if I add DOT 3&4 type brake liquid? Ride safe! ✌
@Trekopolis
@Trekopolis 10 ай бұрын
As I reference the service manual, Honda recommends DOT 4. I don't know what fluid they use at the factory, but the differences between 3 and 4 can be understood more here: www.differencebetween.net/object/auto-object/difference-between-dot-3-and-dot-4-brake-fluids/ Either one should be fine under normal use, but if you have to change it you can use that information to get a better idea!

The back is more than likely a drum brake so it could simply need adjusted or repaired if it's really old. The front brake should have a fluid area so maybe research youtube for the exact model bike or ask AI for any hits on that.

"Make sure the fluid never goes below that" Okay but it doesn't really have a mark on it, just a circle.. what level is too low??
@Trekopolis
@Trekopolis 3 ай бұрын
The little circle window is a good reference so you can see where the level is at. If you see oil then it's good. If you don't see oil or it's getting close to the bottom of the circle then you can add more fluid. No, there's no mark on the window I don't think, but anything below the circle bubble window is basically letting the rider know it's time to add some fluid.
