I used to always wave; it became a subconscious habit. One day I was making a left hand turn in heavy traffic, a guy waved, and I automatically waved back. Wow! I realized I was waving out of habit, and it had become a safety issue: hand no longer on clutch, me looking at moto guy instead of paying attention to the 20 cars around me. So I stopped waving. It took me a while, and a lot of effort, to break the habit. I no longer wave. I've had people tell me I'm "ruining their ride" by not waving, at which I laugh. I ride my own ride. I'm amazed at the number of people who wave to me from the other side of the freeway, at 70 miles an hour, across two concrete barriers and a wide median. No, I'm not going to wave back.

as a former driving instructor, and now 61 years old...I am having trouble finding a reliable vehicle ( Van / Wagon / whatever ) I would be nervous sitting at stop / signs / lights without a rear-view mirror. I notice it seems hard to see clearly behind you unless you lean over to one side. I would be worried about getting rear ended and pushed into the vehicle in front of me. I have never even ridden a 49CC scooter, but for only FINANCIAL reasons only I would consider taking the 16 hour class at the local community college and getting my motorcycle endorsement so I can buy one of these. For $4,000 - $5,000 it seems like a reliable mode of transport around town and short trips out of town. But living in Wisconsin I have no clue where to even store it for the winter months?
@Trekopolis
@Trekopolis 8 күн бұрын
I am always looking behind me, especially when I plan to stop or sitting idle at a traffic light to make sure vehicles are slowing and see me. I'm not sure if I would be able to get out of the way even if I tried, but maybe. I am always aware of my surroundings. The mirrors are not going to provide 100% visibility, but it's enough where I have the confidence that I can see what I need to. I never feel like they don't do the job. You take a chance every time you ride and that's just a choice we make. I know a guy who was rear-ended by a delivery truck as he waited at a traffic light, it happens. The delivery driver didn't see him and was probably looking at this phone. He was laid up for months and lucky to be alive, with multiple neck/spine surgeries. He said he is done riding and is selling his Harley. All it takes is one time to change your mind about being out there on two wheels. However, I don't focus on the "what-ifs" because it saps the joy out of the experience for me. I accept the risk and I'm as careful as I can be and that's all I can do. I would never ride without a helmet, however. That's also a choice. Anyway, the rider's course does teach a lot about riding that you would never read in booklets because the instructors have a wealth of knowledge (most of them) that is priceless information. I was humbled going through the class because I thought I knew pretty much about riding. Wrong. You always learn something. BTW, if you get a bike you can buy a nice cover online to store it under if you don't have a garage. Some of the better covers do a great job protecting the bike. You can check out the slightly used market for motorbikes too and may save thousands, then invest quality accessories and enjoy the experience. Riding is a combination of keeping a positive outlook and being true to your physical abilities or limitations. Once you find the right bike you'll really enjoy two wheels a lot more. Hope this helps!

It performs well on twisties for those of us who do not have the sport bike mentality and surprisingly well off road for those of us who are not true dirt bikers. Whether you get the Speed or the Scrambler plan on spending an additional $500 on accessories. Now that's a unique question. Well, it depends on the area I'd imagine. Probably not because the bikes they use require quick speed response, larger (bike/rider) visibility, from what I've seen. Just my opinion. I don't know the requirements. If I were the rider doing that role, I'd prefer something comfortable, powerful, larger, and lower seat height, and more surface area for mounting options like lights, siren, speaker, storage. Most of those bikes are similar to police bikes from what I've seen. 🤔 Great question! Thanks.

I'd say so, yes. You have to consider a bike's weight, ease of use, maneuverability, and especially shifting with a manual bike. This one I feel covers it all and I'm not just saying that because I did a review on it. I actually think it would make an excellent transition from an automatic if a person wants to ride a manual bike. Most modern, smaller bikes for that matter are not as complicated to operate as people think. A person can adjust fairly quick if they have average coordination and balance. If you struggle with physical limitations, well, that's another story and that's why they make automatics and trikes, etc. Good Luck!

I enjoyed your video about this Triumph Speed 400. I feel it would be helpful for prospective buyers to know what the actual out the door price for this bike would be. You are not able to purchase this for $5K. With dealer prep, destination, and TT&L, it is probably closer to $6500 - $7000 out the door? Depends on the fees a dealer charges. The Triumph dealer here close to where I live does not just add dealer prep, they actually include an additional $250 uncrating fee, and the destination charges are double what other charge. The reason for this is because, according to them, it costs them more than the factory listed destination fee to ship the crates back.

@@Trekopolis Thats what i said.. They released the Forza 300 from 2014-2016. I got a leftover Forza 300 in 2019 for 4k. The msrp was around 7k. Also, for an extra 100lbs, the Forza 300 max speed was only 80-85mph. The adv 160 can go 70-75 mph.

Lovely bikes, not advisable to rev the engine during a cold start or perhaps it was a warm engine.

Keys make sense. Why reinvent what works? 🤔
