Scopema Swivel Install on a Ford Transit 10-way powered seat

I was halfway into this when I decided to look for a video on cutting the bottom of the seat. You have saved me a lot of heartburn. Scopema being returned and ordered the Amazing Auto swivels. Thank you!

@@thudang3039 stacking a bunch of washers also doesn’t feel right which is why I ultimately went with the Amazing Auto swivel.

I just finished installing our scopema swivel bases on a 2022 Transit. I had a heck of a time. They have made some minor tweaks, like shorten the thick cable for the air bag thus I had to relocated the siring harness. If you had done the driver seat, you would have discovered that you lose access to the pos. battery terminal. I also had to trim down the edges of the battery box and again, relocate the wire harness and cut out hole in top of battery case and the underlying battery separator. Oh, and I had to add spacers bar and "lifts" for the little motor under the seat. Now, They do swivel nicely and are rock solid, however this doesn't make up for all the issues and I wouldn't recommend these to others.

What did you use as spacers? And how high did you go?

@@krisjacek Aluminum plate 1/2 inch thick, but it wasn't quite enough so I added to small riser blocks to driveshafts of small motor to raise it up about 1/4 to 3/8 inch. ok now. Total about 1/2. seat riser added to swivel rise of about 1.0 inch. I keep the seat a bit high so this added height would not impact me or my wife. maybe impacts others.

My plywood stand-ins were 3/4" and I would have probably made my own "massive" fender washers out of a cylinder of aluminum at 1" thick had I continued. I stand by my original assessment, not recommended or worth the trouble for the 10-way powered seat.

Good video and I agree with your assessment on the wiring Im guess swivel seats are out on our 23 Transit of course we have to get it first..lol

@@VanTransitions I had to comment here because on the auto swivel video there was no option to comment, great video but I do have one question when driving does that seat shake side to side and rattle or is it nice and quiet like a factory install?

I have had passengers for short rides and no issues. I've driven a 600 mile round trip with no passenger and no issues.

Thank you. I did not; I opted to return the Scopema and installed an Amazing Auto swivel. I have a video for that on the channel as well. As noted in this video, I can't say I would recommend the Scopema if you have the 10-way power seat. This is just an opinion, but maybe you could get a 1.5" diameter cylinder of aluminum and make your own 1" thick fender washers; and pay attention to your bolt's sheer strength ratings; but that's only food for thought. I can't recommend it.

Longer bolts and washers will save you from cutting the seat

I'm sorry I disagree. I mean, if you're stacking 3/4" to 1" of washers so the motor clears the wire I'd say that's unsafe. If you have a regular/standard seat, not the 10-way powered seat, you can install the Scopema, but I'd still be impressed if you could do it without modification to the plastic. Can you reference how you did this without cutting required? Keep in mind KZbin won't let you paste a link in your comment so get creative.

Should just lifted seat up and then turned seat. No plastic need cutting.

With a Scopema swivel on a 10-way powered seat, as you can see in the video, you must lift the seat with risers to clear the seat motor, and it still requires the plastic to be trimmed. I have decided using risers is dangerous and not worth the risk. In the follow-up video I use an Amazing Auto swivel. It is thicker, clears the motor with no issue and you would still have to trim the plastic, though not as much. I have heard in non-powered seats, the plastic trim is much smaller so perhaps trimming is not needed on those? I do not know.
