I`ve had several transits, a sprinter and now a vw crafter. I know they`ve improved over the years, but they have the engine with the dreaded wet belt that breaks down and blocks the oil pump, goodbye oil pressure, goodbye engine. I`ll stick with my crafter.

To me this score shows what true cars are about. The van does what it is supposed to do and does it very well. I have a Prius and it does what it is supposed to do, very well. Someday soon I would like to get a manual WRX, to feed my soul. Great review

I'll keep bumbling about in my Mk2. It gets me where I need to go, and customers love to see it. I paid strong money for it, but it'll always hold it's value. I really don't lie the front of these, and the screen is a huge detractor. I've just realised - my van doesn't even have knobs, just sliders!
@farishanafiah84613 ай бұрын
Sorry, not a fan of the front styling. The proportions look somewhat wrong, maybe because of the slanted bonnet. I have no problem with the rear styling, though I do think Ford can do a better job integrating the light clusters to the body panel. I know Ford can do it well.

Had a brand new van in 2020, four years later, it had done 104k miles , and the last 15k have been very expensive, £1,600 spent on replacement wet belt , 2k spent on persistent Ad Blue problems, and the winch that holds the spare wheel broke while driving cause even more cost, locking wheel nuts are a waste of time, and so on
@stu05006 күн бұрын
@ locking wheel nuts are fine as long as there removed every few months, clean and greased same as the spare wheel carrier. As a garage owner I do lots of wetbelts. These vans need to be serviced every 10k miles or 6 months.

To be honest, with the lower roof - I think that it makes the vehicle look much more American in style. I understand why they have gone with the lower roof, in my own opinion they are trying to compete with the likes of the Peugeot Expert, Citroen Dispatch, Vauxhall Vivaro and Volkswagen Transporter. Back in 2016/17, Peugeot launched their all-new style Expert very much taken from the VW Transporter and of being part of the Stellantis Group Citroen and Vauxhall invariably followed a couple of years later (in Vauxhall's case).

What a crazy idea. Running a belt inside the engine in hot oil. My friend has 3 of them and has been advised to put them in for a service every 6 months. Yes that'll get rid of debris falling off a degrading belt but it won't stop the belt from degrading. I was looking to buy a Transit Custom to convert to a camper. Changed my mind on that one ! Timing CHAINS are supposed to last the life of the engine. Which would I choose? ? ? Hmmmmmm let me see . . . . . . Jim

@@drawwithdan5821 The "Custom" name was originally used for a trim level. Not sure if it first appeared on the MK1, but it was certainly on the MK2. No……… sorry 😢 I feel disloyal……. but I don’t like it. There’s an element of the fact that it was a stalwart of Ford GB production that the EU, using our money, enticed the whole production to a non EU country, Turkey…… destroying Fords van production in the UK for ever. Personally, I thought the previous Custom shape and rear lamp treatment was handsome……. this new one is too generic, could be Korean, Chinese or Malaysian. As for the electric one, let’s just say I have 45 years in the trade, in areas that fleets trial new products and technology……….. and, no. They fall far short. Ford - could try harder. @ghostrider67 I don't use a van, it's just what fleet drivers tell me that they are rubbish. Spoken to one driver that said that they had 2 EV transit vans. Both drivers returned them after a week. Only did about half the normal work that week, waiting to charge was the problem, only getting 90 miles per charge. Vans do about 300+ miles day, company bosses not happy. ALL diesel fleet again now and never going electric bosses told drivers. Also the problem of parking overnight, insurance for company stopped parking EV vans at depot overnight because of fire risk. I'm hearing that elsewhere.some Business insurance won't cover EVs on site. I was told that by my insurer 18 months ago. No EVs parked or charging station aloud on site. Won't bother me, I'll never have a EV of any sort.
