Scoring the Pioneer SX-1250 and the Pioneer SX-950 and the akai GX-747 DBX

After the score I had a big, very good, coffee from Leo and I stay there for a almost 2 hours. He told me that he bought the Akai 747 for 300 guilders(150 euro) in 1995 when reel to reel decks where unpopular due to the popular VHS recorders. He showed me his loft and gave me 1 of his 2 Yamaha's KX-393 for free. He wanted to give more things for free but I had no interest. I was only interested in that Akai GX-747 DBX. He have my number and I hope he will call me one day and sell his Akai to me ...

BRAVO! Great findings. And as for the PIONEER 1250, I think it is better than 1980. I will not be surprised if it sounds better. It is a matter of taste but I like the design of 1250 more. 1980 I think is more of a marketing product , while 1250 is more of a "serious machine". Greetings!

I seem to recall scoring a pioneer sx-950 for 60.00 bucks but the channel on the left side was slightly out so went ahead and sold it parts repair to someone else....I have literally owned like 4 different sets of pioneer speakers from the seventies...I have yet to score above the 950 range and I live in the states.....otherwise Andrew very good score.

The 1250 might have less watts than the 1980, but, it was the TOTL at the time and of the x50 series. IMO, a better BUILT receiver than the 1980 as well.

The AKAI GX 747 dbx is from the '80s not '70s. Great machine.. Nice video👍

Great score getting two SX receivers from the 50 series. While receiver shopping in 1979 I almost bought an SX-880. I liked the SX-850 better but ended up with a Hitachi SR-804. The 950 and 1250 had a zillion buttons and switches and pre out/main in. My fav's are the 30 and 50 series models. I owned an SX-650 from 1977 to 1979 and still use an SX-434 in my kitchen system. I like the Akai reel to reel. I bought a Teac X-3 in 1982 and still use it. I recall an audio store here in the states, Tech Hifi, selling an SX-1250 with two Ohm F speakers in late 1970's. Swell video my friend. You gonna hook this SX-1250 up to your Ohm F's?????

What price did you get the Pioneer SX-950?, here in the UK vintage stereo is getting silly money now, that SX-950 would be around £1000.

Back in the day you would have probably paid $1,000 for a big receiver like that and in the 90s you would have bought one used for cheap when you went to the yard sale now they're coming back in style you'll pay a lot more for 1 then you would way back then

Hay back when they built those things they had sound caps in them and I had compassion this guy that I follow Godzilla Wishmaster he's video gamer he works on them things hey replaced the Transformer inside the receiver and it was just leaking smoke he fixed it put in new light light blue LED in the channel dolls and the meter dolls he had to replace fuses back in the day they took fuses and the back of some of them when they blew out you had to replace them he did all that and got it to work and he sold it I can't remember how much he bought it on eBay it was in bad condition everything needed to be replaced

Leo(the seller) told me that he had it for 20 years and in those 20 years it only played a few times in that room

Not really, I paid the same for those Denon's with the B&W cm 9's. But these things are more valuable as money, money is just paper and The EU printing factory is working 24 hours a day, that's why everything now became so expensive. You can better have this stuff in your house as money on the bank. What do you think this 1250 will cost in 5 years from now.....
