Thank you Mr. Michelmore, hat down :) Your work is remarkable. I really appreciate your effort to present the new features of CUBASE 10.5, which I also work on, as well as promoting and discovering your music composing system in general. You do it in a truly unique, educational and fun way. Indeed, your approach is unequivocally enthusiastic, professional and honest. I really like it and think it can benefit both new users and experienced ones. I hope that in the future you will continue to reveal your knowledge to others for the benefit of everyone who loves and makes music :)) P.S. A little note related to your anecdote in the Balkans (I don't know which part you were in, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, or any of the other YU republics of that time?). Btw, you pronounced "...studentski dom..." nicely;) but there was never a Serbo-Croat language. They were always Croatian and Serbian. The political situation forced us to mix similar but still different languages. Surely, this is certainly not a reason for not having extremely good friends in Serbia as well as in Slovenia, Bosnia, etc.... Best regards from Zagreb, Croatia.

I have been using FLStudio for 10 years, but because of FREE lifetime updates I don't want to switch to another DAW. However: If I did it would probably be Cubase. It's kind of funny because whenever I look up a tutorial for a function or trick to use in FL on KZbin, 99% of videos are Dubstep, Hip hop or EDM music producers. I write classical, rock and blues :) PS we have had the ability to score video and export video in FL Studio since version 12.

One of the interest passing comments in this video is a call out to Cubase to bring the power of Dorico into Cubase on a fully integrated basis and how wonderful the DAW environment would be. For the more serious and able composers and orchestrators, this would set their scoring apart from those that pound midi notes into a DAW with little regard for composition and orchestration detail. I am wondering if ThinkSpace has done any work in the area of scoring right into Dorico combined with the embedded Cubase engine within Dorico, and recommendations for workflow aspects.

Doesn't it get stuck with a lot of multitracks in a big or intermediate project? In samplitude I have stability problems with up to 18 tracks and my pc is a last generation daw with 8 cores and 16 high frequency ram and high graphics etc, and I have tried some of them except cubase and they are a little short in midi since I usually work a lot with midi or mainly, your opinion would be very helpful, thanks.

Hi. Before 10.5, each midi part had its own separate undo history. Now this function is gone, replaced by a general undo setting. I'm really upset by this, because they objectively made the functionality worse. I'm trying to bring awareness on this issue, maybe we get at least a preferences setting to enable the old behavior.

Keep 'em coming Guy.! Love your vids; its your personality that makes them.. :-) I get to learn a bit about composing and a bit (more) about our beloved Cubase's new features. BTW - I know I'm a bit late to the party, but who's that friend of the show behind you, stood next to Hans..? (Subbed and Liked..!) One niggle; the new video Export in Cubase is fixed at full res/FullHD - hence huge, unnecessary file sizes, with longer processing (re-encoding) times... there is no user control for outputting a small, lower res file for quick back-and-forth progress reviews, where quality is not a concern. Conversely, it would be as well to leave the source video as is upon import (given the supported codec's of course).

It's a great new release. I really like the new Padshop 2. The Spectral Synthesis in there is awesome, and fun to tweak with. By why did it take Steinberg so long to add render audio to video? I mean this has literally bene in Logic for like the last 10 years. I do find it funny when some DAWs mention new features which are like old features in other DAWs. Well done... Did you also check out the other notable additions to 10.5 like Padshop 2 and the new Multitap Delay? Granted, they probably wouldn’t have been particularly useful for the kind of score you did here, but I can already see them coming in handy for more „sound design-y“ or „hybrid“ scores. Oh, and BTW: There’s a „display quantization“ in Cubase‘s score editor... (has been there for a while, actually.) Without using it, anything played in live (that isn’t hard quantized to the beat) indeed looks like rubbish. (Or in other words: If you actually want to have somewhat usable results, you can use this feature WITHOUT actually really having to quantize the notes you played.)

It’s not. I was a devoted S1 user for 4 years and then got started in MIDI Orchestration. What a nightmare. It loads up your first core way too much before moving to the next. Loading one library would crackle insanely on a 14-core machine with a Studio 192 interface. Plus they did not support Notion on an i9 processor for TWO YEARS. It may be fixed now but that was way too long. I found a few other things and sadly had to switch to Cubase, it actually bothered me in a sad way. But now a year later using Cubase with an RME BabyFace Pro and Dorico, this is a truly pro environment, one that Studio One can’t compete. If I were tracking and mixing EDM or rock bands or any acoustic situation, OH YEAH I’d stick with Studio One, it has the absolute sweetest and most logical UI, walks Cubase off the dock there. But Studio One is not for Orchestration and Scoring films. Plus if you want support from all the composers out there, it’s all going to be Logic or Cubase, for a reason.
