Guy, I'm 68 and old enough to have been a fan of your father on TV. In semi-retirement, I've taken to composing with a DAW, and now I'm a huge fan of your channel. Always nice to see Flautando articulations make it in a library. I know it's not very popular in this day and age, but it's my go to when I want to produce a smooth, airy-like sound with my strings throughout a song.

I don't know if spitfire has ever put out a library that has strings and don't offer flautando... I'm not sure what you're talking about...

The day a library developer puts as much effort and attention into producing an absolutely convincing brass library, I will be a happy composer. Strings libraries......just seems that's all developers are interested in (is it more customers want newer string libraries, or is it that this is all we are being offered?) It appears it is easier to develop string and percussion libraries than it is wind libraries based on the results out there (I own most top tier brass libraries, so base my comments on experience as well as being a brass player)

Why not go cinemstic brass

@EVDMcomposer I have many....the one I use the most is infinite brass.....takes allot of practise, but in a mix creates very realistic instruments. There are no key switches......hold a nite for 2 beats. 8 beats, 2mins! Or really fast stuff. It just works for writing brass parts as they appear in your head without having to worry about being in the correct articulation.

Guy, big fan of your channel. I am a complete beginner and find it very useful and inspiring. Also, signed up for 2 of your classes from thinkspace - music theory and how to write music. Can you do a quick review of Orchestral Tolls Time Micro and Time Micro, if you have access to it? They are on sale on Native Instruments until October 12. So, I was wondering if it is worth getting, what you can do with it, and even if they are ok for the beginner, or it is better to wait till I get better. Would like to mention that I already invested in Komplete 14 Collector Edition during the summer sale, so I already have orchestral tools that come with it. Thus, perhaps you can also do a quick review of those NI orchestral instruments and how you can use it effectively. Thank you in advance.

Hey Guy! Been following you for a couple of years and I love how inspirational you are. Quick question regarding something that's been bugging me for quite some time. How do you get your midi inputs to latch so you don't have to hold down the keys for the entire duration of the 'chord'? Been looking around in cubase but I can't for the life of me figure it out. Love CSS but this is a different kettle of fish. A lot bigger and more articulations more detailed, more mic positions and a lot more money. The legato is amazing and more and more as I play with it its the sound of that space - Abbey Road Studio One, the sound of Star Wars etc - its just a great space with no reverb.

Not for the student or talented amateur. It's kit for the professional composer/orchestration, BUT..... Compared to the hourly cost of the recording hall and the performers It's amazingly affordable. Even when you factor-in the cost of additional SSDs, RAM and processing power.

I have a question about the delay. Is this something that composers consider when doing full orchestras or do violinists purposefully start a little early so we don't notice it?

No this only matters in the Daw. Every sample is delayed a bit

At £349 for just first violins, who on earth is this product for? Are we to expect second Violins to be exactly the same (save a few less players) but recorded 2 meters away from the first violins position…. You couldn’t make it up!!

Totally unrelated to anything you are doing here but I love your content etc I am a 50 odd years young man been a street musician and a songwriter since I was 15 and have been up and down many blind allies as such but anyway... To get to my question/point...? What do you think of Toontrack EzDrummer/keys/bass? Do they make musicians lazy or are they composition tools? Are they very generic or is there some merit in their products? I've tried a few less than legit versions of their software and was quite impressed especially with the EzKeys parts, being a guitar player (playing right handed) I find my hands are crossed a lot when I play keyboard. Please review or give me your opinion on Ez..

I was a bit of a musical prodigy when I was young. Played lead in a metal band and almost made it big and all that. Took about 20 years off from music (not necessarily on purpose). I'm now getting back into it, building a studio in my house and whatnot. Decided to deep dive into theory and found you. Guy, I don't recall anyone analysing variations in pitch with regard to sample libraries. The library creators seem to assume that all string players play perfectly in tune all the time. My experience both with musicians and with simulating instruments in software is that this is not the case and a little detuning makes everything sound more authentic. Discuss…

It depends on how you use it etc. There are a lot of amazing libraries out there and this one is very impressive. I think time will tell as there is a lot going on in this library and it takes a while to get the best out of it - Im definitely still learning
