I have to admit that I really underestimated Gold here. I didn't expect it to be this close because of how aggressive Scorned is known to be, but Gold surprised me with how much she was able to hold her own to the point they were both just a few hits away from killing each other. Scorned did win in the end, and Gold taught me a lesson where I should not underestimate her even if the matchup might look to be against her.

@Caligula 300 Really excited for Chaotic Gore Magala, but also the new risen monsters. I think if Chaotic will definitely be force to reckon if the other magala's are anything to go by. Though whether or not it can beat scorned is another story.

Extremely close. And quite good too. The arena did mess with their explosions a little bit, but it seems to have had a negligible impact this time around and even after Scorned landed his stunlock combo and went into super weeb mode Goldian still held the upper hand the majority of the fight. Unfortunately for her, she charged up her highly damaging ultimate attack and then completely whiffed it at the worst possible time, giving Scorned free reign to retaliate and understandably costing her the fight. It's a shame, but she did one hell of a lot better than I thought she would anyways so I'm proud regardless. Overall a very fair fight, and I can't deny that.

I wished the Golden Rathian could win but thought that to be unlikely before watching the fight. At one point I thought she could win, but unfortunately she didn't make it. It's a pity that both she and the Silver Rathalos encountered some of the toughest opponents in the first round. That said, this fight is exciting to watch, as it is fluctuation in the expectation that makes things interesting.

I actually bet on Gold to win originally as i though it the underdog in this line-up. I figured it'd be close but honestly i forgot how Scorned gets much more aggressive the lower its health is so its good to see that coming in clutch! Can he pull through against Flaming Espinas in the next round? I think he has a shot for sure! Espinas & Rathian are similar in the way they move though Espinas is slower, and takes more time to get off his big booms so with that in mind, i think Scorned may take the win! I dont know how or if defense down even effects monsters but without that paralysis, Flaming may just take an L! Although, he is able to proc poison significantly more often than gold rath can due to it being mixed in with all his fire moves! So maybe that'll give him the edge needed?

This was one white hot match, for a while Gold Rathian had it, Scorned Magnamalo had to take advantage of its ability to topple Gold Rathian with anti air attacks, Gold Rathian did waste some opportunities to make some of its offensive skills connect, in the end this was quite the match, both had the same amount of HP.

I went to this having a hard time seeing a win for goldie. Her dominance at the start surprised me quite a bit and had me really rooting for her! But, I think this shows a bit how (top tier) MH monsters have changed over time. Gold Rathian is quite limited by the "standard" rage and exhaustion mechanics and by still having those old flying wyvern moves (god those tailspins lol). Meanwhile the newer monsters like Magna seemingly are designed about keeping amping up the fight - they start pretty underwhelming, but when they get going they're nigh-unstoppable. In the end, I think it would have been a close(r) fight if Magna's "dig up the ground" move didn't 100% guarantee a topple 😁
