Well for one, it makes sense for it to hurt. As Jax would most likely have nerves there so he can feel what he grabs. Think Pacific Rim, they pilots feel pain because they are connected to the Jager, so they can grab something and not immediately crush it. It makes sense that it would hurt Jax, as he would need nerves there to feel what he touches/grabs so he is aware of the force he is applying
