I agree 100%. If you can afford to buy a Soldano 100w head with a Marshall 4x12 cab and you have a need for it, buy it. However for me, who would end up explaining myself to the police every night if I owned one, a small modeler amp is fine for my living room or bedroom. This gear racket is a zero sum game. …..AND, there is no menus, presets, captures, IRs and all these things that are in those modelers to COPY the real article. For me, I’ll just plug into a tube amp with a front end boost, turn a knob or two and that’s the end of it.
@user-zx5gg8od6l4 күн бұрын
I run a 50w jcm 800/900/plexi but also AC30 at max volume into isolation cabs that I built. You just need mass and the sound is blocked. The harmonics, chord clarity, low mid punch, is still not there with modelers. I’d play a Boss Katana all day live, but not in the studio.
@jaycswift4751Ай бұрын
It goes without saying that these two guys are legends and I grew up loving their playing and their music. Is a real tube amp through speakers better? Of course, but the Kemper is really to close to call and remember the Kemper is not a modeler. But here is the big thing for most of us. A really good tube amp is going to cost you $3,000-$4,000 (in 2024) and then you have one amp. You can get a Kemper for half that and you get access to over 20,000 free profiles from people all over the world. You can essentially use any amp you like. I use my Kemper live and in the studio and I always play through a cabinet with good speakers. I mix the DV-77 speaker with a Warehouse Reaper and I always get compliments on my tone. So yes if you can afford to have someone build you a custom amplifier, do it! I would, but if not. The Kemper is a really good option thats worked for me. Sorry that was long winded, great video as well. Thank you!

@OrangeMicMusicАй бұрын
@@Rudimessiah Their main sound comes from an modeler/profiler for the amp sound. "Hybrid set up" means, they wanna hear a guitar cab on stage because they don't like the in ear. And the cabs are powered by solid state power amps that are not mic'ed, everything goes direct to PA with cab sim. So, no tubes involved. I'm talking about Metallica, Maiden, Megadeth, U2....and so many others.
@joerectifier12 күн бұрын
Never will I use a modeler for a gig….nor will I go direct. They are great for economy and weight and ease of moving, but I started playing electric guitar to feel my pant legs move from the air of my speakers and to feel the glory of a weeping tube amp . With the small 25W tube amps these days that sound great and mate to a good thunderous 1x12, 2x12 or 4x10 or 4x12 there is simply no need to use a modeler. Even at my unknown, humble and basic club level,there is still a tube amp option and light cabinets that require no bullshit - plug and go.

These amp models are made from real amps homie. They aren't just digitally made. Literally it's like micing your amp to the PA. No different. Edit: take the literal miniute it would take to KZbin Marshall vs Kemper and watch the first video. I say a literal miniute because the video I'm asking you to check out is only 30 seconds long. Watch that video, and I promise you will not come back to disagree with me.

@xaviergough9359 i dont think you understand how modeling works. I dont think you or the scorpions know as much about how sounds works as you think yall do. Literally every single DSP has been modeled after real amps. Its like saying a MIDI keyboard cant sound like a piano. Why cant it when the MIDI notes are all samples of a real piano. Get educated and actually create instruments or tones for yourself and you'll understand.

Look I love the scorpions. One of the few 80's metal/rock bands i really really liked. They're talented, but clearly stuck in old school, pedantic, narcissistic, incorrect ideologies that they refuse to abandon. It makes no sense to say that a Kemper is shit because you need stage sound when you can plug a Kemper into a cab with no issue. I'm sorry, but just because someone can play doesnt mean they spent time to figure out the technicalities. They're just regurgitating what their 70 year old producer has been saying for decades. Edit: please just KZbin Marshall Vs Kemper. The first video will prove me right.

I love all three acts, but Scorpions is the band Uli sounds better with, and Michael wish was his. Scorpions aint got use for players like Uli or Michael anymore. And u know what? Phuck u! Matthias Jabs was doing Michael and Uli s live solos note for note when he was very little. Rudolf and Matthias aint got nothing to envy from MSG or Electric Sun. I love all three acts a lot, but PHUCK You, these two in the vid aint hacks compared to Uli or Michael, as u r intending to sound. Your preference off Michael and Uli over them is legitimate, though. But Rudolf and Matthias are top players. No one can place an emotional and melodic solo as perfect as Rudolf, and Matthias has his very own formidable tasty style as Michael and Uli, wich makes him just the right guy for replacing them in total right. Scorpions have never had bad musicians, and Michael and Uli s departure couldnt orphan us from massive talent to come, and Matthias made it possible. Anything after that is jealousy and pettiness towards a brilliant player.
@christopherw32219 күн бұрын
@nathaninostroza7655 they're both great but not as great as Uli and Michael, that's why Michael got back in the band because Matthias wasn't up to snuff at first so they fired him then when Michael left they hired him back for the tour
@nathaninostroza76559 күн бұрын
@christopherw3221 wrong, Scorpions didnt fired Matthias, in order to let Michael in. The band auditioned more than 130 guitarists to get Matthias. Michael was out off UFO and going nowhere, so Scorpions took him in over Matthias, since Matthias wasnt ready to tour yet. Michael didnt created Lovedrive tunes, he just recorded with them and helped finish the post Tokyo Tapes tour. It was Matthias that did the full Lovedrive tour being a kid. And i feel u, he may not sweep the shit out off the neck, display Hendrix influences, create classical infused phrasing like Uli, but his style s got pretty much every Michael playing aspects to his own, with some lil Eddie van Halen. Only thing Michael does better than Jabs is that he's faster. But Matthias fits the band, be it tracks from earlier eras or tracks of his, like hand and glove. And the other things ive mentioned in My previous coment stands tall. Uli did magic with and without Scorpions, but he's a legend due to his tenure in the band, not due to his Electric Sun stint. Michael s best rock output is UFO, hands down. But if it wasnt for Scorpions he wouldnt have established himself to form MSG, wich is a mess as a band, except for McAuley Schenker Group. Phenomenal music, btw, love all his records, but MSG s lacks consistency. Scorpions with Schenker bros are better. And despite Uli and Michael s absence, the band doesnt need them nor suffer by not having them around, since Matthias fill in for good. Thats how great of a player he is. If not for Scorpions and UFO, Michael and Uli would ve been starving mega talented blokes at the most. Both bands were the break they needed. Schenker needs UFO and Klaus, Uli needs Scorpions and Klaus. Rudolf, Klaus and the guys don't need them both, thanks to Matthias. And eventhough Schenker s the best UFO axeman, Wild Willing and the Innocent s the best UFO record, and he's not featured in. UFO s still a formidable band without Schenker.
