When I was in Scotland in the 1980s visiting my cousins we went to Forfar and I had a "Forfar Bridie." Scotch meat pie. One of the best things I ever ate. Maybe I will have a bigger kitchen someday, as I love to bake. Yours is definitely one of the cooking channels I enjoy the most.

Ha ha ha, there are some folks who can get upset about anything. Cooking is about taste and adjust, make it the way you like. Most of the folks that moan do not cook! Thank you. I'm pleased you are on here. Most of the recipes are not in large quantities. Thai food does not have to be spicy - that's a Thailand myth. Many Thais do not eat spicy. I've lived here more than 20 years! All the very best to you and your wife. Rik

Scotch cassetes 120 minutes, Scotch eggs and now Scotch pie. I was thrilled to see that what I believed british pie are were misconceptions: soggy dough made of tons of lard, unsesred meat, and then coal workers with their black fingers just throw meat in their mouth and probably waste underbaked dough. No, the meat is propperly sautéed here, with onion. Then beef stock whuch makes real gravy (not tons of flour and caramel colour), and - I couldn't trust my own eyes - Rik, you're a skeemer! You remove the excess fat!? Admit, you ho to the opera too, in disguise of fidler on a roof! Really, this was a pie. I like peas in every form (sometimes I make peas, been and potato on toast). One can sense my somewhat unhealthy glutonny here, I am eating with eyes right now, since I am in mobey trounke now, but as soon as I get back on my feet, I will make this. (And one more thing: these rests if the dough --> they are never ysed, do they? Just a myth: "for later use". Only way to use it is to use it immediately: fill them with cheese and salami, or make small quich-pizzas with leftovers on the lower rack of the oven.)

Don't get mixed up, Scotch eggs have nothing to do with up here. Scotch eggs (Scotch is the catering term for covering in breadcrumbs) Scotch eggs have their origins from Fortnum and Mason London.

You may want to call this anything other than Scotch Pie because this is a hundred miles south of the Scottish Border and nothing like a Scotch Pie. even the pastry is wrong. I am scottish, I'm from Cowdenbeath Fife, I've bought, made and eaten them all my life and never seen one made or look anything like this. I'm not saying its not nice and tasty or anything, It looks a good Pie But its NOT a Scotch Pie.
