Thanks for reviewing this again, all this time ago! I've since had it for £54, and i luv this bit of dram. abv is expected, but is a smooth delicate scotch.

Btw guys, if you still can I recommend you get a bottle of the 15y old sherry cask matured from Glen Garioch. The whisky is no longer being bottled and I'm really pissed at myself that I didn't buy at least a second bottle when I still had the chance...

True, BUT...... it will be different! The old stuff was matured only in Oloroso. The 2018 will be matured in Oloroso and Pedro X casks! ~Mark

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the channel. I know all the Macallan expressions are natural colour, but any Macallan under 45.7% ABV is chill filtered.

Are you stating this or asking? I'd believe it as a statement and it does make sense as 46% ABV is the magic number for chill filtering. ~Mark

For me, I like this one better than the Balvenie 12 Doublewood, Deanston 12, and Glendronach 12. I would give this a solid 3 for the price.

Nice review. I have not tried this expression yet and I have never got sulfur on any scotch but I don't think I would mind that aroma. Won't know until it happens. See ya Thursday on the live show!

I think I like the double cask a bit better than the standard 12. I pick up a slight sulphur scent after the initial pour, but fades away quickly. I like the spice, fruit and oak. If I add a touch of water, I pick up a sweetness in the palate. On sale this month in my state liquor store for $54.99 plus tax. C'mon Andrew stay away from workshops and be careful what you eat before you do a tasting ;-)

Great review guys! This one is quite a bit more spicy then the regular 12 IMHO. I think I like the regular a little bit, better but this is a nice change of pace for me.

Why have they brought this out you ask? To water it down further and charge double the price. Never had a Macallan, and I'm a Scotsman, same with Bowmore. At this rate, I never will.

Get real! ALL Macallan under $200 is colored. The whole core range of the 1824 series are all colored.

Looks like they changed their policy. Germany has a law to declare all additives, so it's a good way to check for coloring. And I have to admitt all new arrivals, even the last bottles of the discontinued Gold, Amber , Ruby are noted as uncolored. These used to be noted as having "Zuckercouleur". But here's older stock of Gold in miniature bottles, stating colored. www.scoma.de/scoma099030-macallan-gold-html.html There's a reason why a well known whisky notority some years ago upon Macallan announcing the Gold, Amber and Ruby suggested to rename them Orange, Oranger, Orangest :-)
