Thank you for this. I spent an afternoon in Haddington many years ago, and had the best fruit scone of my life at a wee eatery in the city square. Next time I am in Edinburgh I will make a point of spending a day here.

Hiya again Rog, This was my home for many years as my relations are from here. The name comes from the Hiddentoon as from all directions it's just never seen until your in it. Where you were in center if you went in between the Vic pub and council building to the sides you would have found the beautiful library which is absolutely fascinating history with a cuppa coffee from machine whilst you browse. The staff are second to none for service and attention, attitude etc. But only in this department. Another place you may be interested in is Gifford,then across the lamermoors to the whitadder reservoir which has the old school underneath the water. Once again you're doing great vids but what about chatting with a local person for any info.

Aubigny short for Aubigny-sur-Nere is indeed in France, 2 hours south from Paris and is twinned with Haddington 😊 All about that french-scottish friendship that has lasted centuries!

Just had a look round Aubigny-sun-Nere on Google Street view. It looks very pretty. I can see why they twinned with Haddington. Now I want to go there! 😂

Lovely town!! I'm just curious about a word I often see in pub's name: what does "Inn" stand for? (sorry I'm Italian and I'm very fond of English language)

Hi Laura, “Inn” is an old English word meaning “lodging and food for travellers”. I guess originally these pubs were on frequently travelled roads and people would stay the night and get some food and have a beer. ❤️

And in fiction as well, Laura! There’s an Inn in Lord of the Rings called The Prancing Pony Inn - which Tolkien apparently based on The Bell Inn in the Cotswolds! 🍺🍷
