Great scenery! 😃😄😇 Other drivers & riders are kind and have nice manners, too! Great job on editing, and as always, Grade A+ to your choice of music!!👍👍

Don't understand why anyone could dislike this video for the life of me. This brings brings back some really good memories of my bike trips around Scotland and apart from the weather it's a much better place than France and Spain 👍😎

Thanks Richard. I guess the dislikes come from folks not expecting a bike video? Who knows. I make these for myself and I enjoy making them. If others like them too then that's great.

Great film and really nice use of the 360 camera. Looks like you had better weather than us when we were there May 19.

There had been the biggest heat wave since 76 just before I got there, which ended immediately when I picked up the bike! Still, wasn't as bad as I feared it could have been. Hope you still had fun regardless of weather

One of the best NC500 vids out there. How come you didnt vid the 30 k mark?
@yagian
@yagian 5 жыл бұрын
Wow, thanks. I always want to go back and change some stuff (too much ferry footage in this one) but once it's on KZbin it's done, can't change it anymore. I think I did catch the change over to 30k but it was among trees/bushes, so not very dramatic.

Nice video and phenomenal soundtrack ... can you let me in on the songs? I swore there’s a Close Lobsters song somewhere in there.

First two songs are by King Creosote and last one by Runrig. If you click "Show More" KZbin knows all the details :D

Hello Ian, I have loved watching your video specially the name of every place helped me google and see how far it is from my place. I have a small question. Where did you stay over night? was it camping. If it is then how was the toilest?
@yagian

Hi RK. I'm glad the video is helpful. I have family in Inverness and I actually returned there each night for free accomodation! I've never camped in Scotland so have no knowledge about the toilets. Sorry

If you have the time then branch off the official route to see other places. I skipped John'O'Groats as that bit is supposed to be pretty boring, and the little back road I took instead was fantastic. If you are riding up there then go via Glencoe. One of my all time favorite places.

@@yagian, thanks for the info. I'm starting in Erskine upto Ullapool via Glencoe, then carrying on clockwise round to Inverness, then onto Carlisle. From door to door nearly 1600 miles. Where are you from Mr B.
@yagian

I'm born and raised in Johnstone but live in America now. My sister moved to Ullapool in the 70's so I spent many a "summer" holiday up there. Was great to go back and see the place from a bike.

Did my version of NC 500 in a convertible 3 years ago. Now i want to do it on the bike. Thinking, is a Honda Goldwing a bit big to do this. I am not feeling that confident???
@yagian
@yagian 4 жыл бұрын
If you're comfortable riding the GW then you will have no problem. The smallest road is one lane with plenty of passing places. Maybe be cautious on the 2 hairpins on Belach na Ba if you're a bit wobbly, but other than that I say go for it!

and what camera are you using?
@yagian
@yagian 5 жыл бұрын
My helmet cam is a Contour which is no longer available. Easy to use but years out of date now and I've just replaced it with a Sony FXR-3000. Much better camera but more fiddly to use. The other camera is a Rylo which captures 360º video and allows you pan around in the editing process.

It’s a RAM Claw mount with an extension. I used various size extensions but generally smaller is better as they wobble less

@@yagian great stuff I will probably nick your route as I have been trying to work out how to ride it from a base camp - excellent planning.
@yagian
@yagian 5 жыл бұрын
It really only took the first 3 days to do the route. The 4th day I was planning to do a loop round the Cairngorms but it was dumping with rain that day so I headed west to the driest bit which was ironically Skye (not often you can say that about Skye). But that turned out great as I loved Plockton (no video there as I forgot to turn it on!) and then that little ferry to get off of Skye. I had considered heading to the northern part of Skye but had to return the bike that day so didn't have enough time. On the 3rd day I avoided going to John'O'Groats as that didn't appeal to me but my little shortcut across the one lane remote road was my favorite bit of the trip. Look for Kildonan train station and then head south. Hope you have a great trip!
