I am descended from [Mac]Duff and MacIntosh clans. When I read MacBeth in college, little did I know I was connected to the real 'MacDuff the Crime Dog of Scotland' (as we nicknamed the character then). This is fascinating - thank you for sharing! Gorgeous view - I may add this to a future visit to Scotland.

Hey… Me too. They spelled it wrong coming into the ports of entry. I didn’t know that for years. Wemyss became Weems. I like the original version. Do you live in Scotland at present?

I'm a piper in the States and have MacDuff lineage through the Phyffes (or thus it was spelled in a Spanish census in the 1790's). My son and I sought out and found the castle ruin many years ago when it was accessible to explore. And we did. In retrospect, it was foolish and dangerous, but we enjoyed it at the time. Thanks for telling the story of the castle.

Love your channel. It allows me to explore my Scottish and Irish ancestry. I have Wemyss ancestry on my mother side. I didn’t understand how the Wemyss clan were descendants of the MacDuffs. I’m a little confused. I know when my Wemyss ancestors came to America they spelled the last name wrong. In America it is spelled Weems. I didn’t know that until I checked into it years ago. I wish the people at Ports of Entry would have been more accurate and caring. Don’t mess with my Scottish ancestry… Lol.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸
