HS2 was originally costed at 37 billion. It spiralled to over 130 billion and as a result has been largely abandoned (so much for the Northern powerhouse bs). It seems that the UK is incapable of implementing any large scale infrastructure projects. Perhaps they could learn from successful projects completed in Europe and elsewhere.

Why are news outlets so fascinated with a couple of small local island hopping ferries in Scotland and yet consider large aircraft carriers of Britain, that have no aircraft or support vessels in any case, breaking down on a regular basis, not at least equally newsworthy? They could throw in a few articles on our non-functioning nuclear detterent missiles while they are at it. These must be worth a world wide fleet of the island ferries. 😂
