Scotland’s First Minister becomes victim to his own ‘Hate Crime’ laws

Sky News Australia host James Macpherson reveals a large number of the complaints made within the first 24 hours of Scotland introducing their ‘Hate Crimes’ law were against the country's First Minister Humza Yousaf himself.
Laws introduced on April 1 in Scotland criminalise stirring up hate against protected identity groups.
The complaints against Mr Yousaf concerned a speech made in Scottish parliament where he criticised white people.
Mr Yousaf responded saying he hasn’t seen anyone who is not part of the ‘far-right’ referencing that speech in relation to a hate crime.
More than 8,000 hate crime complaints were made within the first week of the laws being enacted, with complaints under this law having the potential to outnumber the total for all other offences in Scotland within nine months.

Literally one of the basic elements of law is that a person can only be found guilty of a crime if it was a crime at the time they did it. It's very depressing that people like you are so prevalent in society. You not only think you are right when you are wrong, but you have not even educated yourself on the basics of the subject you say someone else (who is right and has at least some knowledge of it) "doesn't know the point of". So many people like that being so common in society is very harmful to its entire cohesion, but you will never ever see that. It's like giving the nuclear codes to some orangutans.

Which is part of the flaw of the whole idea of "hate crimes" anyway: it assigns a punishment for intent, as opposed to actions. This requires someone to somehow know someone else's intent or motivation, and who can do that? I mean, I know liberals generally like to make accusations based on their own suppositions, and they miss the flaw in that, but to make that the law of the land is ludicrous. None of this will stand in the long run because it's illogical.

At the time of the election Nicola Sturgeon was leader of the SNP and so was elected First Minister, but when she resigned last year the SNP elected Humza Yousaf as their new party leader and the post of First Minister went with the job. He will keep it at least until the next election. Whether or not he keeps it after that will depend on the election result.

Literally the solution relies on that. Im from argentina. The country has been infected with socialism, regulations, etc, etc. For nearly 20 years, the Justicialist party took short sighted measures to perpetuate in power. 2 particular examples: 1. Young vote, allow people under 18 (over 16) to vote. They thought they could adoctrinate and buy a majority of them. 2. Emergency Decrees: they changed the legislation so that instead of just one of the 2 houses repealing the decree, you would need both to repeal an emergency decree by the president. (This allowed for instance, for president Alberto Fernandez to lock everyone up for over 120 days, without schools, etc, etc.) Milei used this against them. First, he got the majority of young votes, which probably helped him considerably. Second, any change he could send in the Emergency Decree, he did. This means several of his policies took effect immediately. Currently, the senate repealed it, but they still need the house of commons to repeal it too. And even if they do that, he can just send the same decree split across 7 decrees, and the whole process starts again
