That bridge is impressive. Functional and attractive.

Never knew there was a Welsh bridge in Scotland. But it does look stunning and beautiful. Beautiful landscape as well.

I love these, you've inspired me to explore a career of civil engineering (ive been want to explore it for a while but your stuff is so interesting)

Great video, all the metal work came from Plas Kynaston foundry near Ruabon as it was then in Denbighshire, now Ruabon is in the county of Wrexham as is Pontcysyllte aqueduct

Next time you’re passing through the Peak District, take a look at the bridges in New Mill’s over the Torrs. A lot of bridges with interesting stories.

Great video as always Bryn, but Telford didn't build the Iron Bridge, that was Abraham Darby, Telford did build the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct at Froncysyllte though.

Aha! Thanks for the correction.

Huh, I never knew about this bridge. There's a lot to explore in Scotland.

It is a lovely looking bridge. But I would say in defence of modern engineering, it sometimes feels like they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Take HS2 for example, some people complain that the more functional bridges look dull, whilst the more elaborate bridge designs are criticised as costing too much. If you get a chance you should head to the Colne Valley in Denham, I think you'd be impressed with the viaduct there.

There is an element of that - but even basic and functional can look good if done right. It's when it is obvious no one really cares when it stands out.

So I’m from Inverbervie in Aberdeenshire and now live in Inverness in Highlands, i am 100% guilty of just driving past many, many times without stopping to actually have a look whenever I go to see my parents.. its always been “one of those things I need to stop and have a look one day” .. I promise to actually stop and have a look now.. 😊

What a beautiful bridge. I guess they must have had to transport the metal via boat and then horse and cart? (I don’t know how far away the Spey is navigable…)
@BrynBuck10 ай бұрын
It is mostly navigable by the looks of it. Would've been a heck of a trip from Ruabon regardless!

I do second the appeal given in the first half of the video!

your vids may just yet turn me into, as a terminally online person might say, a complete bridge sicko
