I disagree. After the substitutions it was always going to end like that, it was completely predictable that it would be a close game until the end. Rugby is 80 minutes and 23 men, not 50 minutes and 15 men, this Bok team and the great All Blacks team of the past would often have close games and blow teams away as a result of their depth and constant physical pressure. Eventually the opposition cannot hold them anymore. The score was fair.

Wynand du Plessis, a SA supporter here! - I believe the 7 - not 5 - should've got the yellow but not red. The Scotland try should've stand...that was not a knock as I saw the ball went straight down. (I hate the way the modern ref blows for knock-ons, where balls going straight down and sometimes even backwards from a shoulder is determined as a knock. I also believe that if we started with Williams at 9 our performance would've been a lot better. It was also obvious that the 12 to 14 was a little rusted and they didn't gel as they should. Hats of to Scotland who showed a lot of guts but their scrum just could not withstand the pressure. I was actually shouting at the TV (ha-ha) for SA to took a scrum with the last penalty but they decided to rather take the 3. Had my wish with the last scrum...to prove the point! When you look at Mapimpi's second try from the le Roux kick pass, it's crazy how far both of them were from the left side of the field when that last phase started. Scotland had no reason to load the defence on that side. But within 2 or 3 seconds, and seemingly without having to communicate between them, they both swept left at speed, and le Roux just knew where Mapimpi would get to on his run. It was such an instinctive looking try, but I'm sure it's something they've done a lot of times in training. Very cool move.

With a back three of Elrigh, Kwagga and Marco, we did not have the extra height to give us good alternate options. Then you have Sous who was a bit rusty and suddenly you have only really Eben who can jump.

Boks played a lot of 2nd choice players. Against Scotland at Murrayfield, it was never going to be easy. Everyone needs to relax, the amount praise Scotland are getting is actually disrespectful to them, they were nothing special considering where they are presently. It was always going to be close for 60 minutes given the team selection, and given the benches it was always going to end with a bigger score than the first 60 minutes warranted.

Tim, I am a South African and after the game, I also told my husband that I was not at all impressed by the Bokke! Not their best game. I agree with you on the red card situation. Yellow, maybe, but not red. We used our chances when we had to, but the Scotts’ defence was great. We made way to many mistakes and it costed us! I could not wait to hear what you had to say! ❤

Token Scot fan. Been a while since we tried so hard to come up short. Some very iffy officiating, but if we rely on the ref, we've already lost. Boks played pretty poor, but Scotland just couldn't put the damn ball over the line. Really fun game, and worth the big billing. Also, the best comms of the weekend, especially compared to the Wales game.

Very happy with the outcome as a Boks supporter, but the scoreline definitely flatters South Africa. The Scots played very well and threatened to take the lead so many times. They are a very good team. I also felt the red card was far too harsh. Maybe yellow, but not red. The Boks ultimately deserved the win, but it was a messy one. More accuracy will be required next week.

The 20-min red was ridiculous. The Scottish lock barely landed on Mostert's leg, and then seemed to immediately try to get off it. And that ruck was such a quick and fluid moment, with both the Scottish flanker and the Bok scrumhalf playing a part in pushing the lock over. Crazy decision.

Scotland was fantastic. It was a near-perfect game for them. And to me, the Boks were asleep. So many handling errors. Well Done, Scotland - a couple of calls went against you. 1 - the red card and two the try. The conversion already took place, which brings me to the question, what is the Rugby rule around that? Hope the Boks will have a better game next week. Still happy with the result, but, as Eben said - "the sore was flattering". Thank you, Scotland, for a great game and atmosphere.

Even the most die-hard Bok fan would admit that the scoreline flattered us, but 4 tries to nil tells you that the "right" time won. Whilst the bomb squad is a telling weapon, the trouble with a 7:1 bench split means that you are stuck with your on-field 9 till late in the game in case of injury and Hendrickse hands continually let him down and he was pedestrian with his telegraphed passes. He won't be in the match 23 next week and in fact only Pollard will survive from today's starting backline

The biggest takeaway for me was that Scotland are a very good side and can beat anyone on their day - I look forward to the 6 nations, they are going to be competitive. They did really well when the nuclear bomb squad came on. They will take a lot of confidence from this performance. Other than Fiji's 2nd string losing to Scotland, the Southern Hemisphere is dominating despite all playing away from home. The world ranking of the top 3 are now thankfully correct.

@@Caledon1893 Match was a lot closer than the scoreline would suggest. No, according to the recent rule changes regarding cracking down on croc rolls, it was the right call. I personally disagree with the rule, but that’s how it is right now, ref is not to blame.
@robertjan0023 ай бұрын
Definitely do not agree. It was a cynical move to cause injury to a vulnerable player. It combines the croc roll with falling on the leg of a player who is planted and vulnerable at the breakdown, due to his stationary position and triangulation of the legs to create stability. It was used on Bongi, Marx and now Mostert. It has been used every time we went 7-1 since the final and it is an attempt to force substitutions. It continues to happen because it was not adequately addressed, although the ref and bunker was clearly briefed about this danger cynical attempt to injure. It deserves more than a twenty minute red and should result in a match ban. This issue should really be more obvious and blaming it on the bunker as inconsistent is honestly a bit juvenile at this point.
@tex45233 ай бұрын
@@EggchasersRugby the majority agree because they are trying to be nice and band together because of these ridiculous law changes WR are making. But the fact of the matter is that croc rolls need to stop. So yes the red seems harsh but how do you stop idiot players from even attempting a croc roll? Mostert was subbed at half time and we dont have an injury update yet. What is everyone going to say when it comes out that he is out for months again??
