HIGHLIGHTS | Scotland 2-3 Germany

A proud and spirited display was not enough for Scotland as they fell to a 3-2 defeat to World Champions Germany at Hampden.
Thomas Muller contributed the opener before Matt Hummels’ O.G drew things level with 28 minutes gone. Muller’s second goal of the game put Germany back in front but James McArthur’s volley made it 2-2 before half-time. Ilkay Gundogan’s winner on 54 minutes proved to be the final goal of the game, as Germany strengthened their grip on top position in Group D.

Great first half, great atmosphere it was unbelievable. Was gutted didn't get into the game till ten minutes in and missed the national anthems and build up. Great credit due to Scotland but the Germans just had more than us. There control and quick passing was key

Still pissed off about the way things have gone. We threw it away with a completely abject display against Georgia. Putting up a good fight afterwards against a very good team, but losing, is nothing to be proud of. This happens all the time. Scotland were maybe the better side in this match and could have won 2-1 if luck were going for us. The first two Germany goals were more or less ugly flukes: but I still hold the defense and the keeper culpable for not dealing with the ball a lot better. They were totally at sea on both. Brilliant MacArthur goal, however. If our team had bothered to turn up against Georgia properly prepared instead of treating that match as a foregone conclusion and not playing, we wouldn't be practically out of the qualifiers with two games left to play.

Eagle Owl - How about, with around five players surrounding Muller, you don't allow him to get a feeble deflected shot off and actually try to tackle him. He wasn't even moving with much pace. And how about the keeper being in the right position to scoop up the ball. He was at the wrong side of the net to do anything. How about, with a bunch of players surrounding your keeper, you try and do a better job clearing his dangerous failed attempt to parry a shot with too many opposing players close to goal. The defending and keeping on Germany's first two goals consisted of Sunday League mistakes.
