As usual with this performer and also with this organ, a stunning and transcending experience.

Your Samsung sounds great on my headphones! What an instrument. Heard it live myself for the first time in August 2018. Very moving...and when Glenn Rodgers played the National Anthem, I could feel the hair on the back of my neck stand up! Thanks for posting!

From sea to shining sea! Unfortunately this organ fronted one of the shining seas. Wrecked by a hurricane. Part of my bucket list is to hear this musical monster in full working order! Then slots!

My Samsung galaxy S7 does the same thing at distorting low end sounds during recording. All Samsung phones do that

If you want to keep up on the progress of the restoration go to their Instagram,and Facebook accounts to get weekly post on current work and other information from what I have gathered most of the work done at this time is primarily on the left and right stage chambers.The work on the six remaining chambers/ galleries will begin after all the foundational work has been completed.

The restoration of the left stage chamber is almost complete. The right stage chamber is just being kept as playable as possible while other chambers are being restored - it will be completely restored from top to bottom at some later date. Currently, they are removing components and beginning to repair the left front chamber.

I don't often hear any tremolos being used on the Midmer-Losh. Are there still issues with them? And man, I love the sound of the strings in this organ! It'll be great to hear more of them when they get the other chambers running. Hearing this in person must be goosebump inducing pretty often. Even on a phone recording it's clear how far this organ has come in the last few years.

Words cannot describe the experience of hearing it live. And I don't think the tremolos are functional enough yet. I honestly don't really know. Ask in the Facebook Fans group.

Some of the tremolos are available for use. They can be heard occasionally, totally at the determination of the organist (and the registrant assistant). They generally won't be heard on loud passages. There have been a number of videos that show them nicely but I can't point to which ones.

Great to hear these recordings. Are the selections posted?

Sorry, no. They are sometimes posted on the Boardwalk Organs group but they don't keep them very long.

At least someone recorded these 2 recitals thx, but no bass pipes used?
@michaelherring19446 жыл бұрын
"Someone" is Michael Herring (me) and there were plenty of bass pipes used. My cell phone didn't do a good job of picking up the bass this year. All you have to do is turn up the bass and turn down the treble. I uploaded 3 recitals this year.

What still needs to be done to complete this treasure?
@michaelherring19445 жыл бұрын
A complete renovation of the 4 side and 2 ceiling chambers; the right stage chamber has not been renovated either, but it's kept in playable condition for concerts. However, it also will need a complete restoration at some point. Also, both the 7- and 5-manual consoles will need to be completely renovated. And Voila! It's done! The long-standing completion estimate has been 2023 and $16 million for many years, but I personally don't think that's going to happen. The complete restoration of the left stage chamber is almost finished, and they've begun work on the left front chamber. That's 7 chambers and 2 consoles still to go (there are 8 chambers in total). The most difficult chambers to restore will be the two in the ceiling simply because of the logistics of working up there. See Jack Woodward's Facebook posts for excellent photos and explanations about the M-L. And donate! Volunteer! There are 5 dedicated organ employees and many volunteers working on this project, but the more money and help they can get can only help to speed up the restoration. I spend a week once-a-year volunteering for the organ restoration and have a monthly donation set up. Remember, every little bit helps.
