Performance notes - Doesn't do warm ups After every page: - Sip water, Throat coat (as hot as possible) Every two pages Use generic Binaca from Walgreens (buy in bulk) (helps with watery mouth?) -Dab blistex (smearing it is too much) Preparation Read the book - know as much as possible (know red herrings to avoid over emphasizing) Prepare your mood (horror: watch scary movies, etc.) Subtlety is key Recording notes - 60-75 minutes a session Aims to record 3 hours of "finished recording" per day (not the same as initial recording length) - Tries not to do multiple books at a time Misc - Doing Classics (Shakespeare) allows you to sound conversational (working with difficult, stilted conversation) - take at least an intro acting class to learn how to take direction

I've been listening to and enjoying Scott's narrations for many years now and he does not look how I pictured him. But I suppose that's true for everyone. Thanks for the interview and as always, forever endeavor my friends.

It's been years already, but still, I thank God I found this episode and your program, actually. I learned a lot. I'm 47 now and have been in the radio industry since 1993 as a reporter, then an anchorman and do some voice over, too. But watching Scott Brick taught me more. I wish Filipino Audio book are available, too.

Despite this video being a few years old, it was amazingly educational and helpful to me!!! Thanks for posting this, VOBuzzWeekly! I'm new to Voice Over, yet I feel that Narration may be my calling. I'm still learning a lot, but when I started my research, I quickly discovered that Scott Brick is a legend in the field of Narrating Audio Books. Your interview questions were excellent and Scott explained his answers so clearly and completely that I was able to write down some notes that I know I'll be referring to, often. I'll admit I was surprised to hear Scott say that he lubricates his throat, with two different liquids, after every page of recording. Wow! That's taking in a lot of fluids! But he's a master at his craft. And if he's got over 600 books under his belt, I want to know and do what he knows and does. Keep up the great work, Chuck and Stacey!

@@vobuzzweekly Thanks. It is a marathon, not a sprint. By the way, I am an audiobook narrator, not on the level of Scott Brick of course, but I just love it. Two years in now and time to slow down, back up, and learn.
