Dear Sir, I am Sri Lankan buddhist meditating monk. Sometimes we have to deliver huge public sermons for our devotees. So I like to improve my voice in British Upper(old) Received pronunciation. And I like to find some vocal excercises for speak like UK first female Prime minister Lady Margaret Thatcher's male version. In a deep voice. Please help me. And suggest me a course or some tips according to my necessity. 🙏. Yours faithfully, Venerable Ananda.

I started Kirstin Linklater's exercises on a regular basis and it truly made a difference. She basically focuses on what you recommend, lots and lots of humming and relaxation for the voice box (she covers tongue, soft palate, jaw, neck and lips). This video is great to begin to understand those relaxation principles.

I was doing some demolition work on a house the other day, by myself, listening to Johnny Hartman on a very nice, bassy stereo, for about 5 hours. I was amazed by how, when someone came into the house to speak with me, my voice sounded so much like Johnny Hartman. I guess this is a phenomenon associated with relaxation, even though I hadn't spoken a word in those 5 hours?

If I have anything to take from this, it would be to relax your voice and try not to push it too hard. Give it enough, push it but not too much where your low end is too much. Lets just turn the treble and bass all the way up, and we'll be fine... I hope :-0 just relax is what I would take away from this... Just Relax and let it flow... ... :-)

Thank you Peter. i saw on another youtube months ago that humming was a good exercise to free and open blocked sinuses. since doing those exercises ( humming) i have noticed, yes my sinuses have opened and with yoga breath i am appreciating the benefits.

Measured 57 Hz - remarkable depth! Well I'm at 65 Hz, a bit crackly: will do the brilliant Peter Barker's hum-retch-relax routine and see if I can end up as famous!
