Met Scott Hall at the HOF inductions in 1994, the night before KOTR in Philadelphia. My dad took me and it was an incredible weekend overall. Tried to get a pic or autograph of Hall when he was still Razor Ramon, keep in mind I was 12 at the time, but he was TRASHED. He had a woman following him around, I believe she was some kind of handler/PR person, and he looks at her, while holding two beers in BOTH hands and says,”Do I Look Wasted To You?” Imagine that question in his Razor Ramon voice. It was hilarious and sad all at the same time. I was 12 and I could still tell he was in a bad place. It’s a shame the drugs and alcohol ruined him. He could’ve been something special if he didn’t have all that baggage. I feel weird saying that because he still had such a huge impact on the business overall.

It would’ve been so great to see some long programs with Curt chasing & defending the title with guys like Bret, Shawn, Benoit, Flair, Kurt Angle, Guerrero, and yes even Hogan. I would’ve also loved to see Curt carry Goldberg through a match and beat him in the WCW days because you know Curt could make Goldberg look great even going over him. Curt could work with anyone, and make anyone look good, even guys like Goldberg, but don’t get caught up with that, my point is he would’ve been a credible and well deserved world champion and not just to transition it.

Yeah, he was so "smart" he participated in a Lloyd's of London insurance fraud scheme, like Rick Rude who thought Eric Bischoff would pay the scammed money back for him out of the WCW budget he got from Ted Turner. They helped to forever mess up a good thing for wrestlers who lost the physical ability to work through disabilities. Road Warrior Animal tried that scam, too. They were so "smart", they thought they could collect on their occupational disability insurance and take bumps (meaning: continue to work in said occupation) IN PUBLIC at the same time. Curt was so "smart" he snorted himself to death with coke on top of steroids and bucketfuls of analgesics. He didn't have a "related heart attack", he snorted himself to death - C.O.D. acute cocaine intoxication at age 44. A regular Albert Einstein he was, our Curt Hennig... Such a "smart guy" - left his wife and four kids to fend for themselves because downhill skiing in Florida was more important.

I cannot stand Flair and I cannot anyone who dares take one promotions belt to the next promotion BUT! Flair was justified for that. At the time champs had to put down a $15,000 deposit for the belt. So he was told drop the belt, Flair says sure but I need my deposit back. They didn't want to give it back to him so it's simple, if you do not give him his deposit then technically he owns that belt. *EDIT* $25,000 (Not $15,000 like I originally said) That's ALOT of bread to just hand back to the promotion without getting your deposit back. If you ask me, WCW disrespected Flair almost as bad as WWF disrespecting Bret Hart. What's Rick supposed to do? Hand over the title, get fired and be out 25k? Nah, no way.. Rick was 100% justified. I was under the impression that Ric owned that big gold belt. Jim Herd was playing games with him and wouldn't pay him proper for the belt so Flair didn't do anything that hurts the other boys because they ended up making another belt anyway. Crockett had the belt specially made for Flair anyway, so when did it become the property of the WCW? I thought Flair sold it to them afterwards? I'm not sure. Either way, I don't see a problem with Flair taking it to the WWF.

More specifically, he was OWED money relating to the down payment he had put up as collateral for him being in possession of said belt. Why should Flair return the belt if he wasn't going to be given his deposit (plus interest) back? Flair did nothing wrong. He's still the man!
@EM-tg4ft3 жыл бұрын

@@millyonair9225 Oh, come on! Hall, Nash, Michaels, Waltman and Triple H were close friends who often traveled together and were close friends. As such, they banded to protect one another from anyone else in the business who dared to do any of them harm. There were other cliques that did the same thing. Pro wrestling reached its highest peak when Hall, Nash and Hogan formed the NWO, and the then WWF countered with the Rock, Austin and the Undertaker. It was great, especially if you had the capabilities to line up two TV sets next to one another to watch both Raw and Nitro at the same time. Back then it was the only thing on television worthwhile to watch. What is there now? Nothing!

I honestly cannot stand Flair or his body of in ring work but he isn't wrong on the belt incident. If WCW wants their Belt back they need to pay Flair his 25k deposit back, plain n' simple. That's not blackmail or extortion, that's HIS legit money. They cannot just deprive a man of his deposit money if he has the belt in good condition and ready to return it. Many others said he didn't have to go on national television with the WWF showing it off. No F that, if they won't give him his deposit back then the belt is the his to do whatever he pleases with. They're not loyal enough to honor their agreement to him then why be loyal to them? He's coming to WWF with the TOP Title from the opposition "WCW" ...WHY WOULD HE WASTE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO ON NATION TV AND CLAIM THAT HE'S THE ONE TRUE CHAMP? That was a smart angle. You won't give him his deposit back, fine.. he'll just show up as the REAL champ making endless confusion. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid, Greedy move on WCW.. Could've been avoided.

@dr.floridamanphd4 жыл бұрын
How was he screwed over? Vince paid him well and used the angle of having the WCW belt on tv (censored) as a way to give Flair the advantage when he renegotiated his return to WCW. Vince made money off it. Flair made money off it and got what what he wanted from WCW in return. It was a mutually beneficial arrangement

I've heard a few stories on this over the years so please feel free to correct me on this one but the story behind Flair and the WCW title (which was pixelated so you couldn't see any brand marks, but we all knew what it was anyways) is that Ric was doing work for Corckett Promotions. They wanted him to do some extra days for bonus $$$. Well, it turns out they didn't have the money to pay Flair. So, they told Flair to keep the belt in lieu of his bonus money (I've heard stories that it was anywhere from $5k to $25k he was owed). So, it was legit Ric Flairs personal property when he jumped to the old WWF. Now when Turner took over WCW I hear he had to turn over a kings ransom to get the title belt back! lol
@KK-ex5zu4 жыл бұрын
Flair walked off with the belt to the WWE because Jim Herd wouldn't renew his contract once the old one had run out but still tried to make Flair wrestle without a renewed contract. That was Herd's B.S. way of trying to avoid paying Flair more money was basically to keep Flair as like a free agent. Flair just told Herd he quit, he was having none of that!
@KK-ex5zu4 жыл бұрын
@Gene Bone Funny, when he returned to the WCW they offered up more money than the then WWF was offering up. Turns out Herd didn't know shit about the sport, he was a shot calling brain dead desk jockey!

From Ric Flair's side of the story, when you win the World Title, you put up $25,000 as collateral and you got that back once you lost the Title, according to Flair, Jim Herd fucked him out of the the $25k after he lost the title, so he kept the title and went to the WWF. It's not hard to believe. Jim Herd was an abrasive prick anyway.
