OK, it's been 10 years since I first heard chocotiger play this. I still think it is the best recording I have ever heard. Perfect performance.

I can't describe in words how hearing you play Scott Joplin makes me feel. You play beautifully, man. I first listened to you play this over 10 years ago, but recently, idk, I just got an itch for some Scott Joplin. I remembered your channel and just had to hear you play it again. I see you haven't uploaded in a while, but wherever you are, I hope you're doing well. Thanks for sharing your piano playing with the world :)

So glad that you have brought Joplin's tunes forward to the next generations. Your performance was wonderful. Such a shame that Joplin died so young. Please keep playing. I will check back. Thank you!!!

Dude, when I hear Joplin pieces you haven't covered yet, I often wonder, "how would chocotiger play this?" Seriously! Somehow you use "just enough" pedal and have a great touch which make your interpretations among the best on KZbin, and even better than those most of those "ragtime specialists" and "scholars"..keep it up! Hope to see more from you this year. :-)

Dear chocotiger, I have been learning Magnetic Rag over the past few weeks and your video has been such a help for me to see how certain bits sound and how to play them. I really admire your playing. I uploaded a video a few days ago and have posted it is a video response. If you could have a look and tell me what you think that'd be amazing! Thanks, Nick.

@harmusman He probably plays sections many several times over and sequences them. There are only 4 strains, and each of them repeat twice except for the A strain which repeats three times (once again between last B and first C). The ends of B, C and D strains often have subtle variations.

As Wayne and Garth would say, I'm not worthy!! I'm not worthy!!. . . Damn, that is fine playing. The expression, the emotion . . . not just some guy pounding out notes. Really moving and inspiring and filled with feeling. By far the best rendition I've seen on this new intenet thing. Got to wonder, though, is that bed-head, or hat-head? Just kidding. Chocotiger Rules!!

I hadn't heard this one before but I really like it. There's something non-standard and unpredictable about it, perhaps a heavier classical music influence than most ragtime.
@mymansatan8 жыл бұрын
This one was published 15 years after Maple Leaf, and indeed very different. Perhaps this contrast is due to Joplin's changing style throughout the years.
@MrBenlus13 жыл бұрын
this one should have 300 k views at least :D
@poklzhou14 жыл бұрын
This one sounds more classical sometimes, relative to other pieces of Joplin. Perhaps due to some minors.. Actually it's a back and forth between minor being classically solemn and majors being jazzy blithe~~
@Fimbulveter14 жыл бұрын
xD That was awesome!
@DarianCohen13 жыл бұрын
@trogfield Not quite. The oom-pah bass varies some, and the melodies have common riffs and themes. If all you hear during that era is Ragtime and you're exposed to all of it plus what you compose, of course the melodies will have similarities. But that's what's nice... It's familiar. I'm quite a fan of melancholic Ragtime, but the compositions are far and few in between the cheery, upbeat, athletic type. Magnetic Rag, Scott Joplin's New Rag and Sunflower Slow Drag are all a little melancholic.

There are people you hear playing Scott's rags that want to play them fast; When coincidentally, they're not meant to be played as fast. It just kinda ruins the point. I don't get it.

Stop copying other people's comments such as the one below me". It is really stupid, just so they can get thumbs; if you comment it should be something necessary, not something stupid. Anyway Chocotiger, it doesn't matter how you play neither how you sound; it just matters if you have a passion for the piano, and if you love what you are doing. I enjoy your' music, and i listen to it while I play along on my electric piano. Have a good Christmas vacation Choco. -Blmader 11
