Lots of little things like the subtract subject from the grad filter. Any Lightroom gems like this are gold!

Love the subtlety of the gradient filter. It appears overlooked but was right at the top of Scott's list. Thanks.

There are problems with gradient filters, especially when items extend into the sky area. I sometimes use a polarizer to darken skies, or HDR. These are interesting alternatives. Dehaze slider helps skies, too. Photoshop's new sky replacement tool has it's problems, but it often works very well. I really agree that as much as can be done in camera should be. "Back in the Day" :-) I shot mostly Kodachrome, so everything had to be done in camera. The habits from then have carried over to digital.

Hi Scott, many thanks for this video. Clear and concise, delivered with your usual humour and sense of irony. I get fed up with technical "photographers" talking technically about photo enhancement. You concentrate on the image quality outcome, and show us mere mortals how straightforward it is to achieve with very smart software (without the software taking over).

Hi Scott I was doing a refresher on Lightroom using one of your older books, hoping your new book will be delivered in coming weeks. I was a little baffled about storing photos on your computer hard drive rather than external. My thoughts were my drive is nowhere near large enough. I assumed that’s the reason for storing on an external is to free up my hard drive on computer. My old lap top filled up so fast. Just curious.

Sometimes after editing the sky and ground separately, I can see a faint white line on the horizon between the sky and ground. Is there a way to remove that line? Thanks in advance!

When you do one of these videos, you should light the talent with daylight temperature lights, otherwise the screen will have a strong blue cast on the wide shot.

How's that? If you're shooting natural light, you can't do this in camera without a 25 stop dynamic range camera or something. Currently the best cameras in the world have only 15 stops or so. But this guy is over-editing the skies and making it look tacky and taken
@andrewdrone2 жыл бұрын
Actually you do need this in many cases, which is the point he's trying to convey. Weather isn't a controllable variable all the time, and bland, lame skies are just going to happen.

He also “over-edits” to make sure you can see the results. Once done, you can always dial it back.
