You can tell how old I am, because I really love suits, ties and hats rather than todays attire.Great movie, thanks for the upload

gayleg:....I'm probably just as old or older......I'm 74....in the old days the level of decency and elegance was by far different, I loved it and miss it.....but .today.....the level of anything worthy just went down the..TOILET.......

Well, you guys and your forbears allowed to metastasize and put up with Federalism, instead of hanging the traitors that crafted it in-camera! What else as result, could have been expected? Glory as burst-forth? NOW, we get the ending shoved to us fully.

I'm so happy you shared these. My mother used to go to the theater (before we were born) and loved the mysteries. I think they are great. Thanks again

I enjoy these old movies for the simple fact that they rely on dialogue rather than a lot of noise like explosions , car crashes , and special effects and cgi.; also not a lot of gory blood and guts ,. Snappy conversation takes one a lot farther than NOISE!!!

I am 55, feel about thirty five. But gentlemen these are my favorite movies ever. The suits and ties for sure, not so much the hats, cause I can't wear one. The handsome gents who can enunciate, along with the strong women. I just find that it was a smarter era, minus the racism and treating women not quite so well. So there's that. But you also see that women and others are going to be making some huge changes in hindsight. As you can tell, I'm not terribly well spoken. But I love this stuff

The Phantom Killer (1942) with Mantan Moreland reused this plot and dialogue with only a few changes.

I thought I recognised the storyline.

Actually the Phantom Killer came well after. I just watched the Phantom Killer. Which ecllipsed this version because of Manton Moreland.

Lionel Atwill was such a talented actor with wonderful scope to his characters. But his career was pretty much destroyed by the mores of the 1930s when he was involved in a seamy sex scandal and accused of perjury over porn flix. Such a shame. Today that would probably have boosted his box office!
@zorroalphonso43548 жыл бұрын
Of course, because the US swine "boosting" the box office is fed with porn-fodder.

No morality today, everything is money and you do what you want.
@graemesmith67212 жыл бұрын
@@pinkbeautytwinkle Everything has always been money, or weren't you aware that the Great Depression was in full swing in 1933? At least people today are freer to pursue their own visions of happiness without stifling Puritanical values being forced on them by self-appointed moral guardians. And don't forget that when this movie was made, large parts of America were segregated, and that in many states it was illegal for people of different races to marry.

Great movie. 1 h - so it is packed, and no time for frills, and psychological mumbo-jumbo. The idea behind the suspense is great. Surely watch it. Only one complaint about culture: I thought pulling out the gun for everything - even after a simple 'good morning' - was a more recent (30 yrs or so) thing. But I already see it in these matinee movies too! Otherwise I would not have known it is still an American production. Thanks for uploading it. As someone else commented before, these little movies are good stories and leave you with a good 'bonhomie' . Thanks again for the upload.

People today dress like kids did when I was growing up, you never saw an adult wear sneakers or sweat pants or jeans to go out they dressed even to go the mills and work, woman would wear heels and dresses and they looked like adults not overgrown children.
