One thing that bums me out about Bad News is he was in the preliminary stages of getting his personal archive and photo collection in order to work on a memoir. THAT would have been a great read. I live in Calgary and used to go to the matches every Friday with my best friend. I can't count how many times we saw Bad News wrestle - but A LOT. For me there was no better card in the world than a card in 82/83 with Bad News, Bret, Davey Boy, and Dynamite on it. 82/83 was the Dynamite Kid at the absolute pinnacle of his abilities and guys like Bret, Davey, and Bad News would elevate their game exponentially any time they were in a ring with Dynamite. He forced guys to bring their A-game and we got incredible matches out of it. I know Bad News has said the two guys he worked with that were untouchable were Steamboat and Dynamite. Oh my god those matches we'd see in 82/83 were unreal. Dynamite was fearless and he pushed everyone to be fearless too including Bad News.

Must have been great shows. We're you there for Billy Jack?
@misterslats9 ай бұрын
@@Matiosav Absolutely. He came up here with a guy named Scott Ferris. The previous week in Portland they had gone down to the arena there wanting to ask how they could get in the business. They asked the locker room leader at the time - a guy named Dutch Savage how to get into the business and Savage told them to beat it. Dr. D. David Schultz watched this. Dr. D split his week between Calgary and Portland. He approached Billy and said if you are really serious about getting into wrestling you need to be in Calgary next Friday, go to the arena, and find a man named Stu Hart. And that's what they did. Billy Jack was trained for the most part by Dynamite and Davey and he learned REAL QUICK. He also looked incredible. After only about 5 weeks training in the Dungeon Stu put him on TV. He picked it up SO FAST. I was blown away when I learned in the internet age that Billy had just over a month of training before being put on TV. He was good right out of the box. I mean, damn, he was the top babyface in Portland in less than a year from his first day of training. Billy has since said that he had a dilemma on his shoulders after seeing how much work and travel was involved in wrestling compared to dealing drugs in Portland bars and, ultimately, he missed the easy money from dealing so he left Calgary after one summer. Today, knowing his training history, I can say Billy was one of the fastest learners ever to come out of the Dungeon. Another guy that was put on TV really fast was Brian Pillman. He was on TV only 6 weeks after starting training in the Dungeon but he was nowhere near as polished as Billy Jack Haynes. Out of the eight weeks or so that Billy was in the territory I saw five of his matches. They kept putting him in the ring with Bruce Hart and it was like watching a midget tagging with a normal sized guy. Shame about the predicament Billy is in right now. That man should never have been allowed access to firearms with his level of paranoia and delusion.

I actually liked the Fire & Ice tag team with Scott and Ice Train, for what they were. I thought WCW could have done a lot more with them as a team, too. Although, I think I remember hearing recently that Ice Train fucked that up; I can't recall how though. On a side note... One could go through the WCW roster from say 1990 to 1999, and literary start a promotion with just the talent in which WCW management completely missed the boat with: "Stunning" Steve Austin Brad Armstrong Bam Bam Bigelow (pre-'91) Brian Pillman Ron Simmons the Patriot PN News (ROFL🤣 I'm kidding) Booker T (pre-'97) Scott Steiner (pre-'96) Lord Steven Regal (William Regal) Diamond Studd (Scott Hall) Owen Hart Cactus Jack Mike Rotunda Scott Norton "Dr. Death" Steve Williams "Mean" Mark Callous ('Taker) Raven Perry Saturn Eddie Guerrero Dean Malenko Chris Benoit Terry Gordy (pre-'93) etc.
