The OG movie cast, the OG movie director, comic accurate art style by an incredible animation studio, & an original score by Anamanaguchi?! The people who did music for the game?! This is the ULTIMATE love letter to Scott Pilgrim as a franchise Edit: as hyped as I am for this anime, I was brought to a realization: are they gonna adapt characters that were in the comics, but not the movie? For example: Lisa Miller, Scott’s parents & his brother Lawrence, Joseph (Still’s eventual bf), Hollie (Kim’s coworker), etc. at one point or another they’re all featured in the comics either briefly or prominently, so will they be added to the anime? Also in regards to the Katyanagi twins, the movie features them in non speaking roles which is why they weren’t in the role call in the trailer, I’m hoping they actually give them speaking roles in the anime as well

They could of just lazily copied the comics exactly, but they’ve redesigned a bunch of the characters and woven in a bunch of elements from the live action movie and video game especially- u can tell there’s a serious amount of passion behind this project just by those details alone. The whole thing is made by the absolute dream team. Of course we've got the original cast, but we've also got Eunyoung Choi and Edgar Wright producing. And most of all, I cannot be more thankful that Science SARU got tapped for this. There's really no better choice for this kind of style. Never in my life would I have thought my favorite animation studio and one of the most prolific western directors would collaborate like this.

I think it's because Scott Pilgrim acknowledges that everyone at the end of the day is equal somehow. Scott is our "hero" but you're allowed to deconstruct him, critique him, or even despise him at times. Ramona is our "heroine" but she is complex, contradictory, difficult to interpret, and overall is quiet. Nobody is ethnic for the sake of being ethnic; Toronto *is* a melting pot and was a melting pot of people back between 2007-2011. Nobody is gay for the sake of pandering or a point; they're genuinely attracted to each other, discover something new about themselves, or just are treated like normal people. Even the "villains" have understandable motivations: selfishness, childishness, jealousy, control, money, etc. To enjoy Scott Pilgrim is to set aside personal prejudice and see how people just exist, and how one action can cause 15 little ripples for others.

I don't get why everyone is so mad about the series being a sequel to the movie, I honestly think it's better that this show was original and not a complete remake of the film/comic. Although we thought the action with the exes was between them and Scott, we still got some greatly animated fights, with the extra feel of each ex's resolve with Ramona, which I think was the whole point of the show.

A lot of people did not like this series, but looking back at this trailer I can see why. No one was ever against a Ramona Flowers series/spin-off or even a retelling , but the advertising made it look and sound like a straight up adaptation of the book and that's not what it was. People didn't like that they were bait-n-switched, and that soured a lot of people, and because of that we'll likely never get another season.

Honestly such a power move to get the soundtrack artist for the game, the director and entire cast of the movie, the author of the original graphic novels, and then somehow expand on all of that even FURTHER with design changes here and there to make the show a unique experience from the rest of the Scott Pilgrim media. Anyone that might complain about changes being made to the graphic novel story really has no ground to stand on, it sees the approval of every major name involved with S.P.

@@sammiller6631 This might be the first "true" retelling though. The live action movie had a COMPLETELY different ending than the comics because the comic hadn't been finished yet. Mentions of the Glow and Subspace in the finale were removed at the end, Nega Scott was resolved differently, and Knives had a bigger part in the ending compared to her story ending in part 4. This means that we'll get to see an ending more in line with the comic. EDIT: this didn’t age well…

The Original cast returns, Anamanaguchi is making the songs, they're adding more to the story, and the animation is some of the best I've seen this year. I don't know how Scott Pilgrim does it but it just perfectly melds itself into any medium it's thrown in.

This trailer looks really promising. I can already recognize some scenes from the comics, but it seems like they also added some original content so I'm really curious to see how the story goes. The action scenes look top notch so I hope they put the same care in the story. If there's one thing I loved about the comics is seeing how Scott and Ramona develop their relationship while also learning to grow after their past mistakes (something that was really missing in the movie). Can't wait to see this!
