Even weirder than that, "Finding Nemo: Escape to the Big Blue" is also a remake/sequel to a Finding Nemo GBA game called "The continuing Adventures". So we got a GBA original sequel to the movie game that got a remake on DS, that later got a "Special Edition" release on DS and remaster on 3DS that both got additional new features/content. I thought I was the only one who knew about this?!?
@Gamemaster_9092 жыл бұрын
Because apparently so many people were clamoring to play Finding Nemo on a Nintendo handheld. Same applies to Aladdin which was released for both GBC and GBA way after the other versions of the game

I went down the rabbit hole of THQ Pixar games earlier this year lol. Also this isn't the last time they did something like this- Cars 2 for 3DS is the same as Cars 2 for DS. Just (sort of) better graphics, and a new 3d model for the home menu. The physics, progression, bugs, anything that really should have been fixed stayed the same.
@Sonictmnt2 жыл бұрын
Don't even get me started with ratatouille. (Barring motion controls and a Wii exclusive multiplayer mode) the Wii, GameCube, PS2, PC, and original Xbox games are all identical. The PS3 and 360 games are newer levels that have similar themes. The PSP game by all accounts COULD have been the Wii game but it sits all on it's own as a sperate beast. The gameboy advance got a 2d platformer. And lastly the DS game, which is also unique, is the only game to get a shitty minigame compilation sequel (kinda like the continuing adventures) called food frenzy, which shares it's art style with the gameboy advance game. Jesus Christ, this was the one Pixar movie that makes no sense being an action platformer, and it has more re-releases than the Simpsons movie game!

12:36 I'm a co-host on a retro show called ARG Presents and we just released our Nuon themed show today. The Nuon is not only has an emulator (although the creator of it passed away well over a decade ago, so don't expect to be playing Tempest 3000 on it), but it also has a small homebrew scene. Why you might ask? Because in a last ditch effort to save the console (I mean, it's kinda a console... sorta), the devs released the code in an attempt to have the community at large to make games for it. It's a fascinating story if nothing else.
@Nightenstaff2 жыл бұрын
Oh, and it's not so much the Nuon console that's hard to get, it's the joysticks for it. And also getting the *correct* joysticks for it 'cause not all joysticks can play all games. AND the console is region-locked so one game can only be played on the Korean released Nuon. And by one game, I mean like 14% of it's entire library!

NGPC has an absolutely breathtaking library in context. Best mobile fighter library probably and so many interesting exclusives. It scores so many points for the thumb stick as well. I've been searching my whole life for a controller that wasn't made by PDP that's got one of those (that also isn't a NGCD controller et al) PS Idk what you're talking about I haven't eaten a bite since getting my copy of sonic pocket adventure, it provides all the nutrients I need. That's actually the secret behind breatharianism, shhhhh

@CardfightVanja2 жыл бұрын
@@0x9E01 It's different. The CD controller is better imo, but also pretty cost prohibitive. The NGPC stick is slick plastic, smaller, and more clicky. It doesn't seem comfortable at first glance but it is quite nice. Kinda like the difference between ps3 analog sticks and vita

I remember that Nemo 3DS port releasing at the same time they rereleased the movie in theaters but in 3D (not new CGI, just the exact same films but now stuff pops out of the screen). Disney started doing that when 3D seemed like the next huge thing, but I only remember 3D Lion King and Finding Nemo actually coming to fruition. Ballistic is an interesting oddity! It's the original name of the puzzle game "Puzz Loop". It was developed by Mitchell, the company who first released it. It's one of the few licensed North American versions of Puzz Loop. In the US people are more familiar with the clones like Zuma or Luxor. But Ballistic/Puzz Loop is the original and superior version. There is a great DS version of the game called Magnetica (Actionloop in EU). It has a really wonderful puzzle mode and is the only game I know of that can unlock (and ADD!) DLC content on a GBA cart (Polarium tile sets and themed puzzles). Mitchell also released a DS version of Pang called "Magic Michael Pang" which is insanely fun.

From what I recall, that 10/10 review on IGN was the result of them absorbing another publication that specialized in reviewing handheld games (and were noticeably more generous with their scores). There's also a fair few classic Game Boy games that have a 10/10, presumably from that.

Street Fighter II Movie on PS1 (That's the official title) is actually way more interesting gameplay wise than just quick time events to dodge or attack during the movie. It actually has you play as a monitor Cyborg (In the film's plot, they were robots made by Dictator to study and mimic the world's strongest fighters) watching the fights of the movie, zooming in on attacks as the cyborg did in the movie to identify strengths, which make the robot stronger for a traditional Street Fighter match against Ryu at the end.
