Imagine getting a gig with Priest, then debuting with the Painkiller album. He became a legend on his first recording. 30 years later, he's popping out Firepower and has cemented himself as one of the best to ever do it. Notice how much he gets it from a fans point of view? We don't come to concerts to hear an improv. We come to hear what we love. He, as a fan first, gets it. Speaking of Metal Meltdown. Bring it and Nostradamus back! Need that Scott double bass.

I met Scott about thirty years ago. Really a nice guy. He and I have a lot of common friends in the Virginia area. I met him through a common friend between us. Back then my kids had a rock band, really garage band. My son was the drummer and I got him one of Scott's VHS tapes on drumming. I think I paid a couple bucks for it, but now, if you can find one, they sell for over $500. He came over a couple times and helped him clean up his drumming. Anyway, he is really a nice guy. I am glad that the managerial problems of Judas priest were resolved, but once they were, Judas Priest really took off and Scott has been busy ever since. Drummer World once said that Scott Travis is the Drummer's Drummer. Great, great talent.

I am 46 years old, I remember when I heard "painkiller" for the first time, although the double bass (or kick) drum was already heard, this was devastating, it was like a lesson, Scott saying, hey guys, that's how you do this, and Scott makes it look so easy. To this day, I still say that the album "painkiller" was and is a masterpiece.

To me, when it comes to heavy rock or hard rock or heavy metal, call it what you want, it,s Tommy Aldridge, and Scott Travis, no discussion here. Love how these guys drive a song, and their use of the double bass drums, very well done and very tasteful, and the way they use single kick and the rest of the kit is amazing too. And both are playing or played in amazing bands too. Again, this is me, just my personal taste.

Thank you so much for the interview, and thank you Scott. When Scott is saying that you have to be true to the first recording of the song, i can´t agree more, and i also thinking that about the melodyline of the song and of course guitar riffs as he is saying. I did listening to Judast Priest before Scott, but when Painkiller came out i was.. What!! I really loved the great playing and when it´s breaks down to a straight double bass drum groove it just hit me.. very elegant with a very nice beat. I did dig RacerX and was so impressed by the drummer and his bassdrum technic, so se him joining JP was fantastic. This year i def. go to hear the band if they shows up nearby. The last record is damn good.

Believe it or don't. As a young fella Scott used to hangout near my house in Virginia Beach with his buddies that had a kiss cover band. Those dudes all lived in this huge old house that used to be a drug rehab center. the drummer of the cover band owned it..they used to play outside all the time and I used to go there at least twice a month until it got sold. Scott's drums used to be in the waiting room that they used as the jam room. My friend that lived there pulled the sheets back on his kit and let me see metal history first hand. Unfortunately I dont know where the tapes are these days but I definately watched hi8 tape of Scott playing his kit in the Hampton Coliseum parking lot. Had to be the 90's. GOOD TIMES!! HAILS

Great guest. Scott is a fantastic drummer. What Scott says about using a metronome is spot on. The exact reason I use a metronome is to make sure we play the songs at the correct tempo. It's tiring having that conversation with other band members. "You started the song too fast." "You rushed the fill into the guitar solo." "Don't slow down in the chorus." "I can't sing it at the tempo you played it tonight." Ridiculous thing, is they still complain about some of the tempos even though WE ALREADY AGREED what the tempo was going to be. 😂
