It never ceases to amaze me the number of wonderful cathedrals and churches you have in the British Isles nor the number of truly amazing pipe organs which fill those cathedrals with such magnificent refrains. In the US, we have churches but we tend to discard them and go for newer building and do the same for our pipe organs in favor of the "newer" mechanical, electronic ones. The difference in the sound even at home with a good set of speakers as opposed to sitting in one of our churches and listening is like looking at pictures of fresh baked bread in a magazine versus being in the kitchen as it is cooking. For the bread, it is all about the smell. For the Scott Brothers, it is all about the sound. Give me the sound any day over the "latest technology". There is NO ACCOUNTING for what the two of you can do with a piece of musical history!

playing thrilling as always; as is the videography,,, and in this recital I'm absolutely fascinated with the unbelievably mixed pedigree of the organ. So often these "hybrids" really are a hotch potch,... this one sounds superb. Speaks volumes for the skills and artistry of generations of organ builders and voicers that have lovingly worked on it.

Another outstanding concert. Not only do you possess an exceptional talent performing and arranging music for organ, but the enthusiastic way with which you explain the pieces you are about to play is really contagious. You make us hearing your music with a smile! A word must also be said about your brother. His talent for showing us the great cathedrals where you are playing, making us appreciate both their magnitude and their small details (like here the carved misericordes) make the music even more enjoyable. May we hope that you will introduce him to us in one of your concert so that we may discover which other genius is behind the camera?

Once again, a superb concert. I am always thrilled to see a new broadcast from my favorite organist. Jonathon is really more than an organist, he is a grandmaster at the keyboard. His personality shines through as he introduces each piece with a bit of history. I feel he is talking directly to me on an one-on-one basis. I am always astonished at how quickly his fingers and feet navigate the various keyboards. On my best days when I played publicly, I didn't have the flexibility Jonathon exhibits. A mega talented gentlemen who brings the classical music to many in a way only he can do. Tom does a fabulous job with his tour of the various churches. He certainly does have the "eye" and it's much appreciated. I notice someone has sent belated birthday greetings. Whichever of you celebrated please add me to the list of many well-wishers. Thank you both for bringing these wonderful concerts to your many fans. We love you. Be safe and stay well until we meet again.

It's Sunday, 5-2-21, and I'm still watching this over and over, still giggling about the cat playing with Rossini's scenery, the singer falling through the trap door, and the transformation of Dubois into Dubious! LOL! 🤣 In short, everything was gorgeous - selections, playing, church, video, et al. I've been on a Widor adventure recently. I never new that the Toccata was from a symphony for solo organ until now, or that he wrote 10 (!!!) of those, plus 3 symphonies for organ and orchestra! How heavenly! I've listened to the 5th & 6th complete, and Jonathan, you can play a full Widor symphony for us ANY time you choose! Dubois' Toccata is a highly spirited and lovely piece, but I suspect he stole an idea or two from Widor! I'm still fascinated by the carvings, and looking up "misericord", discovered that it was a widespread practice to carve fanciful characters and pictures into them back in the day. One of the example images in my search was from St. Laurence! You keep springing composers on me whom I never heard of before (or forgot). This time it's Stolzel. This piece is exquisitely beautiful, my favorite piece from this concert, played with so much expression and feeling. I bet writing out the music by hand helps you to memorize it as well. I enjoyed the piece from Mozart's clarinet concerto. I love clarinets. Tom's Theme and Variations is charming, delightful, and so reminiscent of the Terpsichore dances and music of that era. Great job, Tom! You can write music in just about any style, it seems. I've heard a variety of your pieces now, all masterful! Thanks again for a superb concert, with a wonderful variety of selections, beautifully played, with fascinating commentary, a gorgeous organ, spectacular church, and beautiful filming! My thanks got cut off at the end of the chat (again), so here it is. Stay well and safe, Jonathan and Tom, and I'll look forward happily to your next concert.

Interesting that you have to use a recorder board in a modern organ with electric stop controls. Nice performance. The organ sounds lovely as well as powerful. The Dubois was nice - bouncy. The piece by Tom seems to be variations on a theme designed to show of the stops and range of dynamics in the organ.

Beautiful concert, very stirring. The ashes of the great poet A.E. Housman are buried in the St Laurence churchyard and a cherry tree planted at the site. I thought of him when listening to Bist du bei mir by Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel/JS Bach. If here, where clover whitens The dead man's knoll, you pass, And no tall flower to meet you Starts in the trefoiled grass, Halt by the headstone naming The heart no longer stirred, And say the lad that loved you Was one that kept his word.

As always a wonderful concert. I moved to a part of the world where there are hardly organs, let alone concert organists. So being able to get such beautiful concerts on youtube is really a joy, especially as the pipe organ is my favourite instrument. Love it that Jonathan presents each piece and gives some additional information! Makes the piece so much more interesting. Hope you can soon start live concerts again, but do hope that you will keep publishing on you tube and not forget your worldwide audience, who cannot join you physically. Tom has become a master in recording concerts and the beautiful churches. Many thanks to you both! One small remark: bist du bei mir, does not translate to 'when I am with you', but rather 'when you are with me' and if you look at the further text, it is indeed not for a walk in the park.

Great Setlist, but I am also curious about Tom's themes & variations. I remember the piece "Sesquialtera" which he wrote for Jonathan many years ago, he - Jonathan - performed it in Kempen/ Germany. See you guys on Saturday. 😘👋

Oh this is fantastic! I’ve just currently started looking for the best (most original) pipe organ in Scotland (hopefully Edinburgh, closer) as I’ve just come for a holiday from Australia where proper original tuned instruments (432, 528, etc) but it’s on my bucket list. If anyone can help an old guy who wants to feel uplifted while here .. and feel what music was once like. Healing. Great video and work! Virtuoso. :)
