@jamesmarhen3 жыл бұрын
As an avid OSU hater I agree with you. With the exception of Haskins I don't consider any of the rest a bust. Cardale Jones had talent that scouts liked but they all had question marks and there was a reason he didn't go in the first round. Also, Urban Meyer's offense was not designed to develop a quarterbacks passing talent, they could still thrive but his offenses were designed to be run oriented with run spread focus. Fields is incredibly talented, the past failures of OSU quarterbacks has zero bearing on Fields future success or failure because if people didn't have such short memories they would know you should never draft a Texas Tech quarterback in the 1st round, their offense is gimmicky, none of their quarterbacks have ever been successful, they're all system generated so despite the talent of Patrick Mahomes you should be wary of him because history says Texas Tech is a bust factory...ooops.

Tropical Cyclone-you dont know what the word “bust” means. A “bust” is when a player doesnt meet expectations, especially based on where they are drafted. USC is probably the best example of a “bust factory” with a ton of highly drafted QBs that turn out to have Below average NFL careers. When the average Ohio State QB is drafted in the 6th or 7th round (which means they arent expected to do much in the NFL), that doesnt really fit the word “bust”

I'm a Buckeye for life but... this is a sad but true fact smh. Krenzel? Hoying? Germaine? It's been rough. Pound for pound I'd take Pryor as my generations favorite at least lol. And say what u want but I'm claiming Joe Burrow as a Buckeye. And for the record: for one reason or another I'm afraid Fields will suffer the same curse as the rest. He _might_ flash real quick but... I mean the curse is real. #Buckeyes4Life.

You can’t call 5th and 3rd round picks “NFL Busts” especially if they became NFL starters. There’s only one QB that was a NFL bust in Buckeye history and that was Haskins, who’s NFL story is still being written. You can do this video about any college program. Alabama and USC are the real NFL QB busts factory.

Rabid buckeye fan here. I actually tried my hardest to watch this with no bias. JT Barrett was the worst blessing Ohio state ever received. Great leader, great game manager his whole career. But him playing for 4 years is the soul reason Joe Burrow and Dwayne Haskins sat the bench for way longer than they should have. Everything happens for a reason tho. It still crushes my heart to think of what Braxton could have been. 12 gauge could have been a lot better as well. All in all, we’ll see what our next few qbs do. Glad this narrative keeps getting painted, gives our future quarterbacks a chip on their shoulder comin into “qb bust U”.

There have been 5 really great college qbs play for the buckeyes this century. Plus one who became a legend over 3 games. Smith who was something like a 6th round pick, Pryor who was a supplemental pick by the Raiders (who got laughed at about it. Miller who got injured and was drafted as a wr because of it. Barratt who wasn't drafted, Haskins who has been not very good. And Fields who was drafted 11th. Jones who is the 3 game legend was a 3 star and got drafted. Like most 3 stars he was a backup for a few years. So there have been 2 qbs drafted in the first or second rounds. The last two. 2 of the guys in this video were not even drafted as qbs. Balisarie as a S and Miller as a wr. pryor,smith,kenzal were later round draft picks. Qbs after the 2nd round are not expected to do anything. Most don't even stick the first year. Zwick was a bust all around. As for their college careers. Smith,Miller,Barrett,Jones,Haskins,and Fields were the the best Buckeye qb ever in different ways. Smith the best Ever vs UM, Miller the greatest runner, Barrett the greatest game understanding, Jones the greatest arm, Haskins The greatest passer, Fields the most talented and best all around qb.

Yeah it's true. I'm from Columbus, Ohio, we have great NFL linebackers, running back, offensive line, defensive line, cornerbacks, receivers, centers. But our Quarterbacks never work out in the NFL. My friend owns a card shop and he was spending $$$ on Dewayne Haskins and I told him we have never produced a Super Bowl Winning Quarterback. But he thought Haskins would break the mold. Guess I was right

OSU always has a dominant offensive line. I think that’s why QBs always shine there. Once they play under actual pressure in the NFL they all crumble. You can say that with most powerhouse schools. They have so much talent around them they make QBs look good. I think that’s why most QB turn out to be bust.

Every school is an NFL QB bust factory. There are so few successful NFL quarterbacks it's almost random where they come from. Even the best programs aren't successfully at pumping out to NFL caliber QBs
@JackassHill3 жыл бұрын
I think in order to be a bust there has to be hype, right? How many Ohio St. QBs have been drafted in the 1st round? Art Schlicter, Dwayne Haskins, and Justin Fields? Jury's still out on 2 of those guys. They call USC "Quarterback U", and look at the guys who haven't or never lived up to the hype: Sam Darnold, Mark Sanchez, Matt Leinart, Carson Palmer, Todd Marinovich... None of those guys were worth a 1st round pick except Palmer, and he was the 1st overall pick. Matt Barkley would've been a 1st round pick if he came out his Junior year as expected.

It's a Game Manager U school historically, since OSU has, save for modern times, always been a power run, throw when necessary school. High end quarterbacks used to not go there, because the ball would be taken from their hands.
